WRITING PRACTICE: Resume construction

A resume (C.V.) will be the first impression an employer has of you. Imagine you are a job applicant. Write a resume as if it were you own resume. Follow pattern:

■ Date

■ Place of work

■ Position - Responsibilities and duties

■ Acquired skills.

When writing about your positions, skills, professional responsibilities and duties set the tone of your resume by:

1. beginning sentences with verbs in the simple past tense;

2. leaving out the personal pronoun "I";

3. using both ACTION VERBS and POSITIVE WORDS to make your message stronger.
