To be awarded the MSc degree, you must prepare and submit a dissertation of between 15,000 and 20,000 words. The focus of the dissertation can be a topic relevant to your roles and responsibilities within your own work organisation. A broad range of topics are normally acceptable and very effort is made to assist students to select topics which are challenging, interesting and worthwhile. The Board of Examiners approve the dissertation proposals and will seek not to constrain originality providing the project proposal is clear and adequate supervision is available.
Prior to formulating the dissertation proposal, students will review different research methods and techniques and also attend a dissertation workshop which is designed to assist the development of a focused research topic.
Assessment
Each unit is assessed independently within the semester in which it is studied. A range of assessment modes are employed, including essays, management projects, problem solving exercises, group work and dissertation.
