А4’2018 INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION-CONTEST

OF YOUNG ARTISTS

MARCH 2018

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Founder: Tyumen State University with the support of Tyumen regional division of The Union of Russian Artists creative non-governmental organization.

Promoter of the exhibition-contest: Department of Arts of The Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy of The Tyumen State University.

The purpose of the exhibition-contest: to identify talented young artists; to promote them at the national and international creative scene; to support young talented and promising artists; to raise professional level of the works of visual art created by the students and graduates of art schools of the Ural and Siberian regions.

 

Participants: university students (category: Student), educators, artists (category: Pro).

 

Categories: Graphics, Painting, Decorative and Applied Arts, Illustration, Calligraphy, Art Design, Fine Art Photography, Mixed media, Digital art, Collage, Graffiti sketch.

 

The art exhibition-contest period: September 2017–April 2018.

 

Location: display area of The Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy of The Tyumen State University.

The partners of A4’2018 are Tyumen Region Duma, The Slovtsov Museum Complex State Autonomic Cultural Institution of Tyumen Region, Tyumen regional division of The Union of Russian Artists creative non-governmental organization, mass media of Tyumen.

 

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

Young artists and professional artists (Category: Pro) may take part in the exhibition-contest.

Participation is free.

The works done over the past two years are accepted. There are no genre, thematic, stylistic and technical constraints, i.e. use of any art materials to send a work in A4-sizes mail envelope are allowed. The authors who work in the following fine art techniques are preferred: watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, pastel, computer graphics, decorative and applied arts techniques, etching, linocut, silk-screening, easel graphic work, mixed media. A4 format is the only limitation in the work of the author. Compositions are preferred; study works, sketches or drawings are not considered by the commission. The presented works should meet the following requirements:

– artistic and imaginative expression;

– compositional integrity and completeness;

– stylistic unity;

– originality.

 

St round

To participate in the art exhibition-contest, email the materials listed below to the Organizing Committee (e-mail address: formata42018@gmail.com) until 20 December 2017. The materials should be with the obligatory A4'2018 mark:

– Application (Enclosure 1);

– color photo of the author;

– images of the works in a digital format (JPEG, 150 dpi, 10 cm on the large side, each image is sent in a separate file). The works are supplemented by the Microsoft Word file that contains data about

– personal data of the author (full name, date of birth, address, telephone number, e-mail);

– information about the submitted works (author’s full name, work title, year of creation, technique, size (for example: Tom Dick Harryngton, Spring sheet out of Four Seasons series, 2017, cardboard, oil, 21x29). The file names must match the names of works. The number of works offered to the first round should not exceed three. Diptych, triptych (up to six) is considered as one work of art.

Full list of the participants, who have passed the 1st round, will be published on the website www.utmn.ru not later than 15 January 2018.

The works of the authors, who have not passed the 1st round, will not be considered.

Nd round

The authors, who have passed the 1st round, should mail the selected works (A4 format or less than A4) until 28 February 2018 (according to the postmark) to the following address:

Department of Arts, The Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy, Proyezd 9 Maya, 5, Tyumen, Russia, 625007.

The works should be with the obligatory A4'2018 mark.

The works are accepted without frames and passe-partout (Organizing Committee does it on its own initiative). The author's name, full title, year of creation, and size in accordance with the completed form must be indicated on the back side of each work.

The works must be the property of the author, in special cases they can be checked for plagiarism.

The promoters of A4'2018 shall not be liable for any damage to the works during transportation.

Return of the works will not be implemented. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to keep the exhibition works in the collections of the Department of Arts of The Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy of The Tyumen State University as visual aids and exposition material. The works of the winners can be exhibited and published, stating basic data of the author.

The author, who submitted the works to participate in A4'2018, is considered to have agreed to the terms hereof.

Each artist participating in the contest will be sent a certificate of participation. Each winner will be awarded the title of the winner and awarded a diploma.

The art exhibition-competition will start on 22 March 2018 in the exhibition halls of the Institute of Psychology and Education of The Tyumen State University.

The list of winners of the art exhibition-contest will be published on the website www.utmn.ru not later than 15 March 2018.

The promoters of the art exhibition-contest assume no liability for the preservation and return of the sent original works that have not passed the 1st round.

Each participant will be represented by reproduction of the original work in the digital catalogue on the website of Tyumen State University www.utmn.ru

 

WINNERS AWARD

The Contest Commission determines the winners in each category after a visual inspection of the works by open ballot by a simple majority of votes. The voting results are recorded in the minutes of the meeting of the Contest Committee.

The results of the competition are published on the website of The Tyumen State University www.utmn.ru

When summarizing the results of the contest, the following criteria to assess the works are taken into account (from 1 to 5 points):

– ingenuity of the idea;

– craftsmanship;

– relevance.

The works submitted to the contest will not be returned. The Contest Committee reserves the right to further use of the works (with the information and cultural purposes) without the consent of the author and compensation payment, but with an indication of the author’s full name and the work title.

Awarding ceremony takes place in the White Hall of The Tyumen State University.

The authors of the best works in each category will be awarded with diplomas of 1, 2, 3 degrees and special diplomas in the following categories:

- Special diploma of Tyumen regional division of The Union of Russian Artists creative non-governmental organization;

- Special diploma of the Rector of The Tyumen State University;

- Diploma—for excellence in a technique;

- Diploma—for fidelity to the traditions;

- Diploma—for innovative approaches in a technique.
