6. SMART Home Systems

Reality and future.

In the near future smart home technology will allow all sorts of electronics and appliances to be able to communicate with each other and perform a variety of tasks. Whenever someone wants to have a snack, but does not feel like making something, why not have the refrigerator suggest something based on what it has inside of it. Not only that, it would communicate with the microwave to prepare the cooking power and time for that particular dish.

"Smart Home" is the term commonly used to define a residence that has appliances, lighting, heating, air conditioning, TVs, computers, entertainment audio & video systems, security, and camera systems that are capable of communicating with one another and can be controlled remotely by a time schedule, from any room in the home, as well as remotely from any location in the world by phone or internet.

Installation of smart products gives the home and its occupants various benefits (the same ones that technology and personal computing have brought to us over the past 30 years) convenience and savings of time, money and energy.

Distributed smart sensor system for indoor

Climate monitoring.

A core element of the strategy of improving the user’s comfort and security along with a reduced overall energy consumption is an automated decentralised indoor climate control system. For a comprehensive indoor climate monitoring and control system, multi-gas sensor arrays and person detection sensors are required.

In recent decades, new construction techniques and insulating materials have been developed which remarkably reduce the heat loss of buildings, enabling high energy savings at the cost of a diminished natural air exchange. In this situation, sufficient indoor air quality must be guaranteed by appropriate heating and ventilation of rooms. Demand-adjusted control of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems helps to establish a comfortable climate in rooms along with a reduced energy consumption. Factors that influence the indoor air quality include:
