What makes people volunteer

Still there are some people who are ready despite all difficulties to try to make this world better and to help people who are in need. Voluntary work is a priceless asset.

Volunteering is any activity which involves spending time, unpaid, doing something which aims to help people, good causes, or to improve the environment.

Volunteering is a great way to use your skills to help others, and at the same time learn something new which may lead to a qualification.

As a volunteer you may get the chance to develop new skills. There are all sorts of reasons to volunteer, including: helping others, meeting new people, taking part in something which is important to you, gaining experience and improving your job prospects.

The benefit of being a volunteer is a sense of personal satisfaction from giving your time to help others. Volunteering is a way to improve your career prospects and put something back into society.

Nowadays a lot of volunteering organizations exist. And their activities range from rattling collection boxes in the streets to sitting as a Justice of Peace, from improving wildlife habitat to manning telephone help lines for children – or parents.

Its mission statement is to bring people together, to combat the disconnection and alienation that lie at the core of the nation’s most serious social problems.

Many volunteers unite into communities and organizations which organize seminars on racial harassment, community relations and drugs; advise adults on issues such as holding and employment; and help young people prepare CVs and application forms and advise them on interview techniques etc. They can occupy young people’s time, which prevents them from antisocial activities. Volunteers visit housebound people as well in order to give the main curer a break And the only reward they got is the feeling that they’re bringing a little bit happiness into someone’s life.

Many companies encourage volunteering through release time schemes, and most special offices that promote and organize volunteering.

So, I will dare to say that volunteerism is an innovative paradigm for 21st century corporate citizenship, in the world where volunteerism exists; the city begins to look human. So volunteerism is a matter of Moral Re-armament.
