The founder of IKEA as an example of a leader

Leadership is needed at all levels of organization. A typical definition is that the leader provides direction and influences others to achieve common goals. It’s true, but a Chief Executive must do much more than that. The leader of a large company needs to do three things. Firstly, to create a picture of where the whole team to be going. The second aspect is inspiration, which is very personal quality, but great leaders manage to inspire people that they work with. And thirdly, it’s momentum. They manage to create a momentum and make sure that people are moving forward with their various projects.

I think that all this aspects has the founder of IKEA Ingvar Kamprad. Mr. Kamprad is one of Europe’s greatest post-war entrepreneurs.

The concept behind IKEAs amazing success is unbelievably simple^ make affordable, well-designed furniture available to the masses. Sales have raised every single year and Mr. Kamprad has grown extraordinary rich. His ideas and values are at the core of IKEAs philosophy. He has extremely modest lifestyle (he washes plastic cups to recycle them). He could never accept that he should travel first class when his colleges sit in tourist class.

“Call me Ingvar”, he says to the staff, he expresses the feeling of togetherness physically, clasping and hugging his employees.

One of Mr. Kamprads characteristics is his obsessive attention to detail. When he visits his stores he talks not only to the managers but also to floor staff and customers.

Mr. Kamprad has had both personal and business battles. He has fought against dyslexia.

In the conclusion, I want to say that Mr. Kamprad is really wonderful, amazing person and in my future life he will be a good example in things relating to the job and career.
