Such a translation is special; it has its differences from other types of translation. This translation differs from others in that when creating a new song lyrics, it is necessary to take into account various parameters.
And of course, such a translation requires special knowledge and skills that relate not only to understanding foreign speech. The technique of such a translation is considered quite complicated, of course, if we are talking about professional translation, or at least high-quality. The person who will translate the song must have not only knowledge of a foreign language, but also understand how poetry is built, in particular, a poetic form, rhyme, have a sense of rhythm and well know the cultural and social aspects of the foreign language from which the translation is made.
In addition, you need to choose the correct method for translating the song, while taking into account who and why this type of translation will be carried out. If a translation is performed for a fan of a certain artist or for himself personally, while the purpose of the translation is to simply understand the foreign song and its semantic content, the translation should be made close to the verbal form, namely, verbatim.

In the case when the translation of the lyrics is required for any artist who will then use it for his performances on stage, the translator should give preference to another method of translation. In this case, the translation, first of all, must be equimetric, which means that when it is completed, the rhyme, the number of syllables in words and the number of stresses must be preserved.
In other words, the lyrics of the translated song should be suitable for performance. In addition, the equimetric type of translation can be used to translate poetic works, especially if you want to preserve the original style of the author. This method is used when poetic rubyes need to be translated, if the original text and the translated text need to rhyme the 1st, 2nd and 4th lines.
Of course, you cannot exactly translate the text in this case, but it is important to be able to correctly convey the meaning and maintain the external form. In any case, problems with the transmission of meaning can arise, as the rhyming design of the text of the translation is required. The same problem often arises when translating puns. Therefore, the translator sometimes makes semantic sacrifices, or a little distortes the form, due to the lack of a solution to such problems.
If we talk about amateur translation, then tracing paper will immediately be felt here. Making a literal translation of the text is very simple, in contrast to identifying the true meaning and transmitting it to the reader. Sometimes even a professional translator cannot convey the meaning in the text due to inconsistencies in the foreign and Russian languages. Perhaps, due to such problems with the translation, some foreign songs seem somewhat meaningless to us, but this is not always the case.
And it is quite natural that making an equimetric type of song translation is more difficult than translating a plain text or verse. Such a translation often requires a musical education or basic knowledge of the rhythm of the text.
Chapter 1. Song Translation Rules.
Translating songs is one of the most time-consuming and difficult tasks for a translator. It requires not only a good understanding of the original language, excellent knowledge of the native language (and as you know, artistic translation not into the native language in extremely rare cases is really good), but also the presence of hearing, a sense of rhythm, and skills of versification. And those who want to immediately write a "clean" version in absentia "dig their own grave". Therefore, I will tell you how to do everything gradually and in stages.
First of all, you need to listen to the song well a couple of times. First without the text in front of your eyes, and then checking it. On the one hand, they are the biggest headache at the translation stage, and on the other — with the proper intelligence and creativity of the translator, you can manipulate their meaning on a huge scale, choosing the rhyme and length for almost any occasion.

Yes, it is “rhyming”, because at this point we work only with the original text. The number of rhyme types in different languages is different, but between Russian and English it is almost equal (~ 11) and is similar in qualitative composition. However, to study the same Wikipedia for the study of all is not necessary at all - with careful reading and pronunciation, they are found without special knowledge.
The purpose of this paragraph is to mark up the original text for the rhyming of its individual parts and words. What is important to us is not the rhyme itself, but its presence and location.

1) In fact, the presence of a rhyme between parts of a stanza is more important than its location, so sometimes other types of rhymes can and should be used than in the original.
2) You can add a little gag - as presented in our today's example, but it should not carry a meaning not included in the original.
3) Try to use the same vocabulary as in the original. It’s immoral to translate children's songs with curses, but on the contrary, it’s stupid.
4) Sometimes it is possible to violate the number of syllables by 1, if later it will not stand out much when singing, but it is better to use words in such situations where the excess is absorbed and not pronounced. (For example, "Back to Tamriel" - "Back to Tamriel").
5) Feel free to ask for help from comrades. You never know where the brilliant option comes from.
How to translate a song from English to Russian
An independent translation of an English song can be discussed, if only you are fluent in the language. Otherwise, use the following guidelines.
A simple option is to use an online translator. To do this, you need to find the lyrics in electronic format, copy it and paste into the site field. But you definitely won’t like the result. Online services are able to translate each word individually, but do not know how to connect them into sentences stylistically and grammatically. In this case, common word meanings are automatically selected. In addition, in English songs there is a certain number of phraseological, slang expressions and turns. Their online translator is not yet able to recognize.
A more complicated option is to spend time and find a finished translation of a specific song in a relatively literary form. They are contained on thematic sites. 2-3 translations often exist for the same work. You just have to choose your favorite option.
