Speak about a teenager’s experience of doing the shopping with her parents

Adults and teenagers are very different; they have their own opinion on fashion and how to shop. As for teenagers shopping is like a fun. Of course, teenagers have their own style which can hardly be understood by grown-ups. They tend to wear too baggy or too skinny jeans with figure-hugging short tops or loose-fitting hoodies and monster-looking sneakers while the older generation may consider it too vulgar. It seems too excessively extraordinary and sometimes even odd. Parents expect us to wear smart dresses or suits and ties, exactly as clothes that they like and approve. As for teenagers, they are very stubborn and never follow parents’ advice. They feel like throwing up when they are shown the clothes that will suit them perfectly according to their parents' view.

So was Marcy. Actually she loves clothes, but she faces widespread problem that if you find something you like, your size will never be in stock. One of the worst things for her is that she has to go past the junior boutique, into the “Chubbies” department. She wanted to do shopping herself without help of the assistant. She did not want to buy a dress. She was waddling up after her mother when they were searching for a dress. In the end of the story her mother gave in and bought her purple pants that they both liked.

So I can say that although teenagers and adults are different they can come to an agreement on some clothes. Most of parents give in trying to change their child but some of them can't and continue to have rows and dragging around shops with their angry offsprings searching for the perfect outfit for them. I believe that this is a problem that should be sorted, because most of teenagers hate their parents for it.

Speak about the different ways of doing the shopping

It goes without saying that shopping is one of the most important parts of our everyday life. Some people can’t even imagine their life without it, while others hate this activity and consider it to be boring and tiresome. On the whole there’re various ways different people do their shopping. Let’s talk about them.

First of all, some consumers, especially if they are used to do shopping in large malls, always make up a list of goods that must be bought. As a rule, they do so because they tend to forget things they need. I think, that's a common problem, as you are always distracted when you come into a huge shopping precinct and see this brightly-lit and spotlessly clean shelves with a wide selection of goods on them. Other customers, who prefer to shop on their own with nobody around, try to go through the supermarket as quickly as possible without any interference from somebody, because one can meet “the whole world” in the store. Usually, this type of people tends to get in a bad mood during shopping, moreover. Others, on the contrary, find this activity to be the best way of spending time together with their friends or even colleagues. Such customers can easily negotiate with salesmen and they often manage to find bargains.

Nobody will deny that it is rather difficult to do shopping with children. Actually, it is a real nightmare, because you have to spend a lot of time running after them and putting things that they’ve grabbed back on the shelves. And the worst situation is when parents have to calm down their crying kids, just because they haven’t bought them a toy or a chocolate.

Frankly speaking, if I need to buy some foodstuffs, I would rather go to the market and do my shopping very quickly as I’m always in a hurry. Nevertheless, if I have enough time, I like to walk slowly along the rows of tables, sniffing home-grown fruits and vegetables, tasting cheese or honey to decide whether they come up or not to my private taste. Furthermore, prices on the market are considerably lower, so I am able to save my money.

Speak about children with exceptional intellectual abilities.

It is a well-known fact that learning is an integral part in the life of all people. In fact, if someone wants to make one’s way in the world, obviously, they need some education, at least basic one. But no doubt, all people are different, hence they have different intellectual abilities. For example, some may be good at anything while others are keen only on a few subjects. What is more, there are people whose intellectual development goes much quicker than their age—these are often called children-prodigy.

In class. we’ve read an interesting article about a girl named Ruth Lawrence, who sat the entrance exam for St. Hugh’s College and was offered a scholarship from it. The girl began to read at four and started academic subjects at five. What is more, Ruth has all-round abilities: she is keen on English, History, Geography, Nature Study and many other subjects; but her major is Math. Besides, she plays the piano and has quite a wide range of interests. But the most unusual fact is that Ruth has never attended school, because her parents decided to educate Ruth at home. In fact, they enjoyed teaching her and seemed to have made quite a good progress in it. Her father suppose that Ruth doesn’t work harder that other children of her age, but concentrates only on her favorite subjects. Moreover, he expects her daughter to take further degree and would be able to become a research professor in Math.

There are a lot of opinions about such people as Ruth. Some people think that her parents deprived her a happy childhood and possibility to get in touch with her generation, and she would face lots of socialization problems in future. But the others claim that it’s a brilliant kind of bringing up, because Ruth became an ambitious girl with right goals as her parents were supporting her all the time. As for me there’s a middle way. I think it’s useful to go to school, especially in primary school. A child can communicate with other children and learn how to live in society. But at the same time school has its drawbacks and sometimes it prevents children to develop their skills useful in adult life.
