The London Eye is located in the western end of Jubilee Gardens, on the South Bank of the Thames River. The ticket office is located in the County Hall, across the sidewalk from the London Eye. The wheel design was used as a metaphor for the end of the 20th century, and time turning into the new millennium. One revolution takes approximately 30 minutes, and can carry as many as 800 passengers per revolution. The London Eye was erected in 1999 and at the time it was the world's tallest Ferris wheel at 443 feet tall. The views from the top of the London Eye are amazing and the ride does accommodate disabled persons. Capsules are enclosed. (There is a Macdonald's restaurant located on the same side of the Thames River as the London Eye. It's across the River Thames from Big Ben, on the London Eye side.)

The National Gallery Collection contains over 2,300 works, including many famous works, such as van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait, Velázquez’s Rokeby Venus, Turner’s Fighting Temeraire and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.

All major traditions of Western European painting are represented from the artists of late medieval and Renaissance Italy to the French Impressionists.
