Упр. 22. Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на перевод сказуемого

a). 1. Britain granted many of her colonies independence after the Second World War. 2. The accident happened right (прямо) before our eyes. 3. Some of the local customs originated in ancient times. 4. The prisoner served five months in a local jail. 5. The police offered a large sum of money for any information about this crime. 6. The early Chinese closed all information about the production and manufacture of silk from their competitors. They sanctioned capital punishment for revealing manufacture secrets to strangers.

b). 1. I came, I saw, I conquered /Caesar/. 2. The first forensic photo laboratory in Russia began to function in January 1893. 3. 20 witnesses gave evidence on this case in the court. 4. After the accident he spent a month in the hospital. 5. Rudolf Diesel (1858-1913), a German engineer who invented the diesel engine in 1897, began a transport revolution in cars, lorries and trains.

ОТЛИЧИЕ ПРИЧАСТИЯ II ОТ ГЛАГОЛА В ПРОШЕДШЕМ ВРЕМЕНИ

Чтобы не спутать глагол в прошедшем времени (protected –защищал) с причастием II (protected-защищенный), помните, что после причастия обычно следует предлог. Пример: The suspect questioned (причастиеII) by police pleaded (глагол) guilty. Подозреваемый, допрошенныйполицией, признал свою вину.

Упр. 23. Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на перевод глагольных форм с окончанием «-ed»

1. The principles defined in the Decree on Peace constituted the basis of our foreign policy. 2. The results of radioactivity caused by the explosion in Chernobyl showed themselves only after five years. 3. During the Second World War more than 60 million Soviet people lived in regions occupied by the Germans. 4. About 35 per cent of all people freed from confinement needed psychiatric help.

ПРОСТОЕ БУДУЩЕЕ ВРЕМЯ

В простом будущем времени перед смысловым глаголом стоит вспомогательный глагол «will ('ll)». Пример. He will work after school. Он будет (пойдет) работать после окончания школы.

Упр. 24. Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на перевод сказуемого

1. The results of the criminalistic examination will arrive at the end of the week. 2. The Serious Fraud Office came into operation recently and detectives will now work together with lawyers and accountants to investigate the most serious cases. 3. Every person in the country will benefit if the government lowers the taxes. 4. The investigation will take little time if the criminal pleads guilty. 5. Strict observance of the traffic rules by all drivers will ensure safety on the roads. 6. An old dog will not learn new tricks (пословица).
