Sociology and psychology

A. Hello, Alex! Haven’t seen you for ages! How are you?

B. I am well, thank you. What about you?

A. Everything is OK. Now I am a student of the university. I am studying sociology.

B. Great! Is it interesting for you?

B. Oh, you know so much on the subject. I wish you success in your studies. As to me, I am also a student. I am studying psychology.

HUMANITIES, LIBERAL ARTS, SOCIAL SCIENCES

Russian students are discussing the problems of some terms with Mr. Black from Harvard university.

— You are welcome!
— Both mean the same “humanist sciences”, which include philosophy, history, literature, and others. They study human thoughts and feelings...
— And social sciences study the human society. They include political science, jurisprudence, and others.
— Yes, you are right. Not an easy question. Some branches of psychology study man, some branches study the psychology of society.
— There is no clear border between all these terms, and that is why you may call all of them both “humanities” and “liberal arts”. Some of them are called “social sciences”.
—The pleasure was mine.
