Marketing Director – Директор з маркетингу;

To be driving by – проїжджати мимо;

To drop in – зайти ненадовго, “заглянути”;

To wait for – чекати (на когось, щось);

Do you mind…? – Ви не заперечуєте…?

Card – візитна картка;

Request – прохання, запит, вимога;

To leave a message – залишити повідомлення;

To be engaged – бути зайнятим;

In advance – заздалегідь, наперед;

To disturb – турбувати;

A brief visit – короткий візит;

MAKING A “COOL CALL”

N 1:

- Good morning. I want to see the Marketing Director.

- Good morning. Have you an appointment?

- Sorry, I haven’t. I was driving by, so I decided t drop in. Is Mr. Din in?

- He is, but he’s in conference. Will you wait or could you possibly come tomorrow, say, at 10 o’clock?

- Well, you see, I’m here for one day only. The matter is urgent, so I don’t mind waiting if Mr. Din can see me. Here is my card.

- Do take a seat. I’ll tell Mr. Din about your request.

- Thank you very much.

N 2:

- I wonder if I might have a word with Mr. Rodgers?

- I’m afraid he can’t see you without an appointment.

- I’m sorry, I tried to ring in advance, but I could not get through.

- Sorry, but I can’t let you see him unless you’ve arranged a meeting.

- Would you tell him I’m here, please.

- Sorry, but I have my instructions. Mr. Rodgers is a very busy man, you know.

- I don’t mind waiting until he’s free.
