1.4. Select the electrical motor

For given mechanical drives we will use asynchronous electrical motor. It is explained by the fact that in comparison with the other types of motors asynchronous electrical motors are simpler in design and maintenance, more reliable and less expensive. The most widely spread asynchronous motors are series 4A squirrel cage induction motors.

Asynchronous motors are chosen by means of table 1.2 depending on the input power Pinp of a mechanical drive and the synchronous rotational speed ns (rotational speed of a magnetic field that characterizes operation of the motor without load). For given mechanical drives asynchronous motors are used either synchronous rotational speed ns = 1500 rpm or ns = 1000 rpm.
