XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) is coding language that is identical to HTML, however with a stricter set of syntactic rules that are based on the XML standard. XHTML is a combination of HTML and XML, a strict subset of SMGL.

Features of XHTML: -XHTML can be thought of as the intersection of HTML and XML in many respects.

-XHTML makes it easier for people to dream up and add new elements (and develop browsers or other applications that support them).

-XHTML encourages a more structured and conceptual way of thinking about content and, combined with the style sheet, a more creative way of displaying it.
