Занятие 1 «Speaking about myself»

Let me introduce myself …/ I’d like to say a few words about myself …

I should say that for me it is not easy to speak about myself, but I’ll try.

I’m Maria / My name is Maria.

I’m 17 / I’m 17 years old / I’m a girl of 17.

I was born on the 2^nd of October 1995 in the city (town) of Novosibirsk.

Novosibirsk is (well / best) known for its scientific center called Academgorodok which houses dozens of scientific and research institutes.

After finishing school I decided to enter the Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications because …

Now I’m a student of …….. faculty.

At school I was good at Maths and …

Despite my efforts I was not so good at ….

School for me was not only lessons and learning.

I had a lot of friends there among my schoolmates as I am quite sociable.

We took part in different activities, such as sport competitions, talent contests, parties and other.

As for my hobbies, they are reading, swimming, and dancing.

Of course I hope to make friends here at the University.

And finally I hope to get a proper education and to have a successful career.

To be known/ famous for, to enter a university, to be good/ bad at, to take part in, to be fond of, to go in for, to be interested in, to be keen on, to enjoy, to hate, hard-working, confident, ambitious, kind, creative, lazy, clever, calm, modest, easy-going (легкий в общении, оптимист, не загружающий себя проблемами), friendly, shy, talkative, selfish, to hang out.

Фонетика

Английский алфавит содержит 26 букв: 6 гласных (a, e, i, o, u, y) и 20 согласных. Запомните их названия! Они могут понадобиться, когда Вам нужно уточнить, каким образом пишется то или иное слово. Вас могут попросить произнести его по буквам (spell).
