The Gerund and the Infinitive after Aspect Verbs

Aspect Verb + the Gerund Aspect Verb + the Infinitive
1. to begin doing sth– used to indicate an activity or process:   e.g. He began working at the report.   to begin to do sth – used to indicate a state of mind or mental activity:   e.g. Greg began to realize that he had hurt her feelings.
2. to start / to begin doing sth – the Gerund is used after non-Continuous forms of verb:   e.g. It has just started raining. to start / to begin to do sth – the Infinitive is used after Continuous forms of verb:   e.g. It’s beginning to snow.
