Упр. 1. Формы Continuous (Present, Past, Future) и Perfect (Present, Past, Future) в действительном (Active) и страдательном (Passive) залогах

(A) Перепишите предложения и переведите их. Выпишите сказуемые и укажите их видовременные формы.

Model: The train has already arrived at the station. Поезд уже прибыл на станцию.

has arrived – Present Perfect Active (to arrive)

 

1. The Alaska state government has proposed to construct a railroad, which will link the rail networks of the US, Canada and Russia via a 90km rail tunnel beneath the Bering Straits.

2. The underground railway is the quickest, safest, most reliable and comfortable means of public transport, which is currently operating in 80 cities all over the world.

3. Sleeping cars were being used on American railroads since the 1830s; however, early sleepers were very uncomfortable for traveling over long distances.

4. It has been calculated that East Japan Railway Company sells 1,000 tons of tickets annually. These tickets are now being collected and re-used in the manufacture of cardboard and toilet paper.

 

(B) Перепишите предложения, поставив глагол в нужную форму, и переведите их.

1. The bridge, which (to build – Present Continuous Passive) now, (to use – Future Simple Passive) for the movement of both road and railway traffic.

2. When I (to come – Past Simple Active) to Baku in 1962, the first Metro line (to build – Past Continuous Passive) there.

3. Automatic block and other kinds of modern signaling (to introduce – Present Perfect Passive) on the railways to ensure safety of train movement at high speeds.

4. The train crew (to inform – Past Simple Passive) that the departure time (to change – Past Perfect Passive).

5. China (to plan – Present Continuous Active) to build six more mainlines and several branch lines to connect Tibet with other parts of China by 2020.

Составьте предложения из двух частей, обращая внимание на перевод глаголов must, should, can, may, need .

Перепишите предложения и переведите их. Подчеркните причастия.

1. In 1816, Richard Trevithick, British inventor of the first steam locomotive, went to South America to deliver engines to Peruvian silver mines, hoping to become wealthy but returned to England in 1827 penniless.

2. Car-Repair Plant in St. Petersburg is the largest enterprise in Russia performing all types of repair and modernization for passenger rolling stock.

3. Having built the world’s first electric locomotive, Werner von Siemens demonstrated it at the Berlin Exhibition.

4. Each railway station has at least two tracks, those for the arriving and departing trains.
