Упр. 1. Формы Continuous (Present, Past, Future) и Perfect (Present, Past, Future) в действительном (Active) и страдательном (Passive) залогах

(A) Перепишите предложения и переведите их. Выпишите сказуемые и укажите их видовременные формы.

Model: The train has already arrived at the station. Поезд уже прибыл на станцию.

has arrived – Present Perfect Active (to arrive)

 

1. The Tay Bridge was built in Scotland in 1878 and collapsed in 1879 when a train was crossing it. It was one of Britain’s first serious rail disasters.

2. The Ukrainian government decided to resume the construction of the Metro, which was stopped because of financial difficulties.

A lottery is being held and 40% of its income will be used to fund the work.

3. For many years, railway track has been laid and repaired by hard manual labor. Now this work is being done by means of up-to-date track machines and mechanisms.

4. In 1825, there were only 2 locomotives available for use on a public railway; by the turn of the century, their number had increased to 70,000.

 

(B) Перепишите предложения, поставив глагол в нужную форму, и переведите их.

1. The stationmaster (to say – Past Simple Active) that no trains (to arrive – Past Perfect Active) at the station during the night because of the heavy snowstorm in the mountains.

2. The reason for the freight train derailment (not / to find – Present Perfect Passive) yet.

3. Reinforced concrete and steel (to use / widely – Present Continuous Passive) now for the construction of modern bridges.

4. With the introduction of Centralized Traffic Control, the safety of railway operation (to improve / greatly – Present Perfect Active).

5. A lot of foreign correspondents (to come – Past Simple Active) in Japan when a new maglev train (to test – Past Continuous Passive).
