TheМurmansk State Technical University

 

1. At present the MSTU is the oldest and the only State technical higher educational institution of the Murmansk region.

2. The Мurmansk State Technical University (МSTU) is a well situated and equipped educational institution.

3. The MSTU was founded in 1950 as Murmansk High Marine School - the marine higher institution.

4. In March, 1996, year the Murmansk State Academy of Fishing Fleet was transformed into the Murmansk State Technical University (MSTU).

5. In 1996, 2 specialities of MSTU ("Ship's Electrical Equipment and Automation", "Operation of Ship's Power Plants") got international accreditation of London Royal Institute of Marine Engineers (Great Britain).

6. Since 1992 new faculties, such as: Economics and Management, Finance, Law, Natural and Technical Sciences, have been created and developed actively at MSTU.

7. The University's campus is situated in the center of Murmansk.

8. It consists of the main training-laboratory buildings, 8 subsidiary buildings, a pilot-experimental base, 4 hostels, a canteen, cultural-sport complex, and various premises.

9. There are about 6000 students and post-graduates at the University.

10. The Academic Staff of MSTU includes 400 licensed specialists (118 Candidates of Sciences, 38 Doctors of Sciences and Professors, 22 Associates and Members of Russian and Foreign Academies of Sciences).

11. The graduates from engineering faculties are given a qualification of a specialist- engineer.

12. The University is the owner of the biggest tall ship Sedov.
