How can I get to the Paramount Theatre?

One Saturday afternoon while Virginia was in New York, on her vacation, she went to the Paramount Theatre for a matinee. Mrs Miller was already downtown; so Virginia had to take a bus alone. First she went to the bus stop near her hotel. After a few minutes, a crowded bus came along. She got on, but

she had to stand up.

Virginia: Does this bus go down Broadway?
Driver: No, down Fifth Avenue. Where do you want to go?
Virginia: To the Paramount Theatre.
Driver: Well, then you will have to transfer at Fifth Avenue and Forty-Second Street. There you catch a cross-town bus marked Forty-second Street and go to Times Square.
Virginia: What's the fare, please?
Driver: Eighty cents.
Virginia: Can you change a dollar bill for me?
Driver: Yes, I think so.
Virginia: Please, give me a transfer, too.
Driver: I'm sorry. I can't. The Forty-second Street bus is on a different line. You'll have to pay another fare on that bus, it's on five cents.
Virginia: Will you please let me know when we get to Forty -second Street?
Driver: Yes, of course.
Virginia: Thank you.

Virginia got off and had to wait only a few minutes for her second bus. As she got on the cross-town bus, she gave the driver fifty cents.

Virginia: Does this bus stop in front of the Paramount Theatre?
Driver: No, but it will take you near there. You get off at Forty-second Street and Broadway; then you walk one short block straight ahead, turn right, and you'll see the theatre sign ahead on Broadway.   You can't miss it.
Virginia: Thank you very much.
