The Reason Behind Those Tears

Ogami Banri: Congratulations on getting your own show, everyone!
Takanashi Otoharu: Congrats! You’ve all worked so hard.
Kinako: Myu-myuu!
Takanashi Tsumugi: Yes…!
Osaka Sougo: Manager, about the sponsors……
Takanashi Tsumugi: Don’t worry about it! The sponsors are predominantly IT companies, so they have little or no ties to the business sector. (1)
Osaka Sougo: That’s good to hear… We can finally put this issue to rest and continue on without any more trouble from my end… (2)
Nikaidou Yamato: It’s all because you did your best. You’ve come so far, that not even your father can interfere anymore since both MEZZO" and IDOLiSH7 are pretty well-known now. (3)
Osaka Sougo: Thank you, Yamato-san.
Yotsuba Tamaki: Is getting our own show like, a really big thing?
Izumi Mitsuki: It is, it is! We’re getting a show that features our name right up top, kinda like “Mister Shimooka’s The TV Man Show”!
Takanashi Otoharu: And part of the reason why you’re getting your own show is because of Mitsuki-kun’s hard work on “The TV Man Show.”
Izumi Mitsuki: H-huh, me?
Ogami Banri: Remember how Mister Shimooka came down with the flu just a little before the end of the year, and had to take a break from the show?
Ogami Banri: That one time where you all filmed without Mister Shimooka.
Ogami Banri: A lot of variety show people praised Izumi Mitsuki-kun’s performance! Especially his ability to talk non-stop and keep the conversation going.
Nikaidou Yamato: Definitely. Mitsu really saved us that time. He connected each and every conversation thread, and changed topics smoothly too. Mitsu’s always doing this for us, though.
Nanase Riku: Like during the MC Corner’s for live performances! He keeps everyone together, and always gets everyone pumped up!
Izumi Mitsuki: I… I don’t do anything special though…
Takanashi Otoharu: That’s what you think, but it’s an incredibly valuable talent in the eyes of people in the TV business!
Izumi Mitsuki: Ah……
Takanashi Otoharu: Thank you, Mitsuki-kun. It’s because of that very talent of yours that we’ve secured a show for IDOLiSH7.
Izumi Mitsuki: Because of… me…?
Izumi Iori: It’s incredible, Nii-san! People in the industry are finally recognizing your talent, just from watching your work!
Rokuya Nagi: I love Mitsuki’s stories! Your voice, the way you speak– you make everyone smile and cheer everyone up!
Rokuya Nagi: Mitsuki, VERY VERY THANK YOU! (4)
Osaka Sougo: We knew you could do it, Mitsuki-san!
Yotsuba Tamaki: I’m really glad Mikkii’s here!
Nanase Riku: Thank you, Mitsuki!
Izumi Mitsuki: Ah… Ahaha, you dumbasses… Now, don’t flatter me…… I couldn’t have done all of this by myself…
Izumi Mitsuki: I'ma head to the restroom for a bit, okay?
*slam*
Osaka Sougo: I thought he’d be moved, but that was a pretty calm and collected response.
Nikaidou Yamato: Nah.
Nikaidou Yamato: He’s definitely crying in the bathroom.
Izumi Mitsuki: ……. I did it! I…. I did it–
Nikaidou Yamato: See?
Takanashi Tsumugi: M-Mitsuki-san…! He’s worked so hard….. I’m so, so happy…..
Izumi Iori: Crying out of empathy again, are we?
Izumi Iori: Nii-san’s long-cherished dreams are finally coming true– the world is finally recognizing my brother’s talents.
Takanashi Otoharu: It’s the same for you kids. Each and every one of you is unique, and that uniqueness is valuable, splendid. The pros in the industry can see it too.
Takanashi Otoharu: That’s why, with its massive budget and the many people working behind it, this show is in your hands now.
Takanashi Otoharu: Thank you, for working your hardest all this time. I am truly grateful.
All: Yes!
Takanashi Otoharu: Ahaha, yep.
Izumi Mitsuki: ……………..
Izumi Mitsuki: ……..N-nn….
Izumi Mitsuki: Waaah– A-aaah……
Takanashi Otoharu: ……..
Takanashi Otoharu: I kind of need to use the bathroom…
Ogami Banri: President, please hold it in.

Izumi Mitsuki: Alright! This is it, we either make it or break it here! Let’s meet it head on, with all our might!
Izumi Mitsuki: We’ve done all of this before, but we gotta watch other shows and study how they talk and lead the MC sections.
Nikaidou Yamato: Ahaha, someone’s enthusiastic.
Izumi Mitsuki: Of course I am! I mean, I’ve finally done something useful for everyone. I’m not great at singing, and I suck at dancing, and I’m short, and I can’t really act……
Izumi Mitsuki: Meeting Zero, looking up to him all these years, and finally making it to where I am today… It’s all thanks to you guys!
Izumi Mitsuki: You guys made me into an idol, and now I finally, finally have the chance to repay you all!
Izumi Mitsuki: There’s no way I /wouldn’t/ be pumped up about this!
Nanase Riku: What are you saying? We wouldn’t have made it this far without you,Mitsuki!
Izumi Mitsuki: Ahaha! Now, now, that’s enough about me! (5)
Takanashi Tsumugi: The name of the show has been decided: "A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7!” The members of IDOLiSH7 will be challenging various things, alongside amateurs! (6)
Takanashi Tsumugi: Here’s how the show will be formatted– you’ll record the actual challenge at the filming location, and then watch the video of it with the guests in the studio, all while talking!
Nanase Riku: Ooh, sounds interesting!
Takanashi Tsumugi: There’ll be a lot of places to film at, so it’ll be even busier than ever…..
Izumi Mitsuki: I’m glad we have work to do! We’ll do our best!!
Takanashi Tsumugi: Yes! I look forward to working with you all! (7)
Takanashi Tsumugi: Once the details have been settled, there’ll be a meeting for the show.
Takanashi Tsumugi: From here on out, as the show gains more publicity, IDOLiSH7 may appear on other shows from this station as guests! And then, the number of promos you’ll appear in will increase too!
Nanase Riku: Promos, huh? Sounds fun! There’s a show I’ve always watched and looked up to… Maybe we’ll get to appear in it someday!
Ogami Banri: There’ll be a lot of big-name shows you guys will be guest-starring in, like “Monday Golden Paradise” and “Goodnight, Calico Cat Alleyway.” (8)
Ogami Banri: It also looks like you’ll get to star on Re:vale’s show too!
Osaka Sougo: Re:vale!?
Ogami Banri: Yeah. The group that was the overall winner for this year’s Black or White– Re:vale.
Izumi Mitsuki: Re:vale, huh. I really look up to them! Momo-san and Yuki-san are so cool!
Ogami Banri: I’m a fan of Re:vale too.
Izumi Mitsuki: Is that so?
Ogami Banri: I have all their CDs. I use them as reference for IDOLiSH7’s PR.
Takanashi Tsumugi: Re:vale is also good at variety! They’re very cheery and bright, classic idols. (9)
Nanase Riku: We’re gonna be on Re:vale’s show… That’s amazing!
Izumi Iori: We’ve appeared on a quite a few big shows with them, but have yet to say anything more than a simple greeting to them.
Nikaidou Yamato: Re:vale……

To be continued……

TL Notes/Comments:

(1) Takanashi Tsumugi uses 政財界 to refer to their sponsors, which in doing so is supposed to ease Sougo’s worries that his father’s company may cancel i7’s show again! see also: me yeLLing on twitter ‘GUYS DO U REMEMBER WHAT INDUSTRY SOUGOs’ DADS cOMPANY WAS?? dUDE"
After revisiting that part in Part 1 (thank you Sarah!!!), FSC is some super group that has a bunch of subsidiaries/branches into things like sporting goods, railroads, bikes, audio devices, pianos etcetc (basically like… Johnson&Johnson… one of those massive business conglomerates that does Everything). SO YEAH IT SAYS BUSINESS BUT oh boY thats an understatement, FSC is massive…..
(2) Sougo actually says something that more or less implies that they can finally put that issue to rest, and that at least on this front he won’t be causing trouble for everyone (because of his family history) aND IM SO
(3) JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT That I will be substituting 'us’ / 冠番組 for IDOLiSH7 occasionally, when it grammatically makes more sense because, English…….
(4) WHAT DO I DO WITH NAGI’S lowkey not-quite-sensical KATAKANA’D ENGLISH???????? ima just, allcaps it. yeah.
(5) いいんだよ、オレの気持ちの問題! - Mitsuki says lit. “That’s enough about (the problem of) my feelings” but v clearly atmosphere-wise hes like AIGHt guYS DROP IT I GET IT AHAHA bc everyone is abt to go for round two of “We Love Mitsuki and Here’s Why We Couldn’t Have Made It This Far Without You” …. ………. See also: Local Girl Ruins Phone By Crying Onto It
(6) キミと愛なNight… This is a Pun, a pun of idolish7’s shortened name ainana (the 'i’ in idolish seven is read as ‘ai’ in japanese which sounds like love/ai, and 7 can be read as 'nana’)……… if you write it out its 'kimi to ai na naito’ …… its a pun, and almost Impossible to write in english so here I am, spouting a textwall in the TL note because i just… translated it as it is… i guess.. and slapped on IDOLiSH7 bc their name aint in the title otherwise!!! lies down……..
Also Takanashi Tsumugi mentions 'amateurs,’ literally 素人さん……. i am not familiar enough with JP variety/anything shows to speak but holy hell please correct me if im wrong
(7) keigo stockphrases give me Nightmares, 'yoroshiku onegaishimasu’ echoing as i try to go to sleep every night…….
(8) M H MM MORE PROGRAM NAMES. First one was straightforward, whew.『三毛猫横丁のおばんどす』is translated pretty literally, but 'obandosu’ is apparently dialect for oyasumi! HOW CU TE……. Specifically originates from Kyoto iirc, so the image of a cat in a kimono or smth (think kyoto pikachu) is easing my soul……… as i cross my fingers for Less TV Show Names because i.... d o not enj oy … translating short titles LOL
(9) 正統派 means orthodox literally like Orthodox Church, but even so, it confuses me a little as to why Takanashi Tsumugi uses this to describe Re:vale (of all grouPS) because… well, you’ll see:^)

[EDIT as of 10/6/2016, i’ve been going thru some of the earlier parts of part2 and fixing some slight minor stylisitc/wording stuff and changed orthodox–> classic)

I’ll have you know i had the biggest headache as to how to translate mitsuki’s crying noises and i apologize if they look Strange or Are Not There At All because the alternatives were either this, or [CRIES IN JAPANESE]

As usual, if you see any mistranslations/mistakes, please message me!

Thank you for reading!

1.3 - Start! IDOLiSH7’s Own Show

Takanashi Tsumugi: The name of the show has been decided: “A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7!” The members of IDOLiSH7 will be challenging various things, alongside amateurs!
Takanashi Tsumugi: You’ll record the actual challenge at the filming location, and then watch the video of it with the guests in the studio, all while talking! That’s how the show will be formatted.
Takanashi Tsumugi: From here on out, as the show gains more publicity, IDOLiSH7 may appear on other shows from this station as guests! And then, the number of promos you’ll appear in will increase too!
Ogami Banri: There’ll be a lot of big-name shows you guys will be guest-starring in, like “Monday Golden Paradise” and “Goodnight, Calico Cat Alleyway.”
Ogami Banri: It also looks like you’ll get to star on Re:vale’s show too!
Takanashi Tsumugi: Re:vale is also good at variety! They’re very cheery and bright, orthodox idols.
Nanase Riku: We’re gonna be on Re:vale’s show… That’s amazing!
Izumi Iori: We’ve appeared on a quite a few big shows with them, but we’ve yet to say anything more than a simple greeting to them.
Nikaidou Yamato: Re:vale……
Izumi Mitsuki: Yamato-san, what’s wrong?
Nikaidou Yamato: Huh? Oh, it’s nothing.

Fans: …… One, two, three– Tamaki~
Nikaidou Yamato: Ah… Looks like there’s fangirls outside again. I guess they found out where our agency is.
Izumi Mitsuki: Tamaki’s fangirls? This isn’t the first time its happened. Tamaki sure is popular~
Fans: Tamaki!
Yotsuba Tamaki: Hold up. I'ma go tell them they’re being too noisy.
Osaka Sougo: It would be best if you don’t show yourself to them. Also, telling them that they’re noisy is a little…
Yotsuba Tamaki: Then… what should I say? If I told them they were disturbing the neighborhood… They’d get mad at me, right?
Takanashi Tsumugi: I’ll go warn them. It’s best if none of you showed your faces to them.
Yotsuba Tamaki: Nn…… Sorry.
Takanashi Tsumugi: There’s nothing to apologize for, Tamaki-san!

Host: And now, today’s guest! High school student and idol, IDOLiSH7’s Yotsuba Tamaki-kun!
Yotsuba Tamaki: ‘Sup.
Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
Host: Tamaki-kun, the crowd’s going wild! You sure are one good lookin’ guy! You’re a lot bigger than I thought you’d be, now that I’ve met you in person……
Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
Fans: Tamaki! Tamaki!
Yotsuba Tamaki: Shh!
Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
Host: Ahaha! The crowd just won’t stop cheering! Now, a word for the audience from you…..
Fans: Tamaki! Take me~
Yotsuba Tamaki: Sure.
Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
Yotsuba Tamaki: So, shh! Quiet.

Takanashi Tsumugi: Tamaki’s popularity sure is amazing…… MEZZO" has always been popular, though.
Takanashi Tsumugi: Ever since the start of the new year, he’s been appearing on more and more variety shows so he’s the most popular member by far.
Izumi Iori: Indeed. Do you understand why Yotsuba-san is so popular?
Takanashi Tsumugi: Because of his appearance and dancing… And also because there’s lots of talk about his younger sister Aya, even though Tamaki didn’t quite intend for this to happen. (1)
Takanashi Tsumugi: However, I think the main reason is this: Tamaki is very close to the audience.
Izumi Iori: Exactly.
Izumi Iori: If he finds something boring, it’ll show on his face since he’s an honest person. And he’ll say what the audience members are all thinking, directly and without any hesitation. (2)
Izumi Iori: That being said, Yotsuba-san and Nii-san are complete opposites.
Izumi Iori: Nii-san is closer to his fellow performers, the creators, while Yotsuba-san is closer to the audience.
Izumi Iori: If there’s a lull in the conversation, Nii-san always tries his best to get everyone excited. Hence why his co-stars are usually very fond of him.
Izumi Iori: However, from the viewer’s perspective, the merry atmosphere of the show may feel forced at times.
Izumi Iori: In contrast, Yotsuba-san does not pander to those around him and oftentimes will say something unexpected, which causes a stir at the studio. As such, viewers feel admiration for Yotsuba-san’s character, as well as a sense of intimacy. (3)
Takanashi Tsumugi: The performers’ side, and the viewers’ side…… Television is quite deep, isn’t it?
Izumi Iori: In other words, we have nothing to fear since we have these two as members in our group. Additionally, we also have Nanase-san– He possesses incredible vocal talent, and is a genius at charming everyone into loving him. (4)
*click*
Nanase Riku: Iori, you haven’t gone home yet? Ah– Manager……
Takanashi Tsumugi: Thank you for all your hard work today, Riku-san.
Nanase Riku: ……. It’s just the two of you talking in private, again?
Izumi Iori: Nanase-san, please go home first. I have something to discuss with her.
Nanase Riku: You’re gonna keep on talking in private!?
Izumi Iori: Yes. Please do not interfere. Now, hurry up and go.
Nanase Riku: Wait–
*slam*
Izumi Iori: Back to what I was saying. Nanase-san is a genius, overflowing with charm. As long as we have him, we will definitely reach the top.
Izumi Iori: In this current era, what we need isn’t charisma– We need to become stars like Zero, charming and well-loved. If we continue our promotions with him as our center…
*click*
Nanase Riku: U-um, you know, isn’t it a little weird!? That you two are just, talking alone all the time like this…
Izumi Iori: Didn’t I tell you not to interfere?
Nanase Riku: W-wait–
*slam*
Izumi Iori: Really now…
Takanashi Tsumugi: …So the person you kicked out just now, is a genius overflowing with charm?
Izumi Iori: At least on stage. Everywhere else he’s just a naive, spoiled brocon. (5)
Takanashi Tsumugi: T-that’s a little…
Izumi Iori: I predict that we will be getting more offers for another IDOLiSH7-branded show, after our current one starts airing.
Izumi Iori: We’re almost there– soon it’ll be our era. (6)

Takanashi Tsumugi: And so, facing the new season head on, IDOLiSH7 is off to a running start!
Takanashi Tsumugi: With the start of their own show drawing close, their dizzyingly busy days began.

Takanashi Tsumugi: The super-detailed planning meeting……
Show Producer: “A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7! – a show where IDOLiSH7 and amateurs challenge all sorts of things.” That’s the kind of program it’ll be.
Show Producer: Both the studio, where guests will be invited to talk with you all, and the filming location will be vital. IDOLiSH7 is fantastic on talk shows, so I have great expectations!
Nanase Riku: Yes! We look forward to working with you.
Show Producer: We’ve collected some public responses, and the challenges have been decided for the first episode! Challenge: Taking an Exam, Challenge: Making Soba, and Challenge: Being an Okami For a Day. (7)
Yotsuba Tamaki: Taking an exam… Can we all study together? If so, that’s like, perfect timing since finals are right around the corner…
Izumi Iori: You just want everyone to tutor you, don’t you?
Osaka Sougo: How about the two of you take on this challenge? You both can cover for each other, in case one of you stumbles.
Izumi Iori: Aren’t you burdening me with a little too much….?
Izumi Mitsuki: Making soba sounds pretty interesting! If we get good at it, we won’t have to order take-out anymore!
Rokuya Nagi: Then we can eat tempura soba anytime!
Nanase Riku: And Mitsuki’s a certified chef since his family owns a cake shop! I mean, soba and mont blancs are pretty similar, right?
Izumi Mitsuki: Not in the slightest. That’s an insult to both of them, y'know.
Nikaidou Yamato: More importantly, do we have to crossdress for the okami challenge……
Show Producer: Mhmm.
Nikaidou Yamato: Let’s settle this. Rock paper scissors.
Izumi Mitsuki: Alright, let’s go.

Takanashi Tsumugi: And so, to promote the show, the members began their many guest appearances.
Host: Today’s guest is IDOLiSH7! We’ll be asking you plenty of questions about the behind-the-scenes aspects of your show, “A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7,” which will be airing soon.
Nanase Riku: We look forward to it!
Izumi Iori: We look forward to it.
Host: Let’s get right down to it. Have you watched our show before?
Nanase Riku: Yes! There’s lots of escape games, though I’m not too great at figuring out codes and stuff.
Host: Well, that’s exactly what you’ll be doing today! All 7 of you will work together to escape from this set within the given time limit.
Rokuya Nagi: OH! Tamaki, what’s the matter? Why are you hiding behind me?
Yotsuba Tamaki: N-no… Isn’t this a haunted house?
Rokuya Nagi: It looks gloomy, but it’s not a haunted house.
Nanase Riku: Yeah! That, and ghosts aren’t scary at all. Back when I was hospitalized, I saw quite a few but……
Izumi Iori: How about you not tell ghost stories to someone who is already scared.
Yotsuba Tamaki: I’m not going in! Never!

Izumi Mitsuki: And now for IDOLiSH7’s Local Gourmet Tour! Hopefully we’ll be off on and on our way soon.
Izumi Mitsuki: ….What are you doing! We gotta go soon! ….Huh!? A super-cheap sweets shop!?
Nikaidou Yamato: Here. This is right here is fugashi.
Osaka Sougo: Oh? I’ve never been to a sweets shop like this before…
Nikaidou Yamato: Really? Then this one’s on me.
Izumi Mitsuki: Man, we literally just started and we’re already off track. Ah! If it’s your first time, Sougo, then you should get this! Ah, and also this, this, and this!
Nikaidou Yamato: Someone sure is generous when it’s Onii-san’s wallet that has to take the hit instead.
Osaka Sougo: Ahaha, this is great! It’s just like Christmas!

Takanashi Tsumugi: And so, IDOLiSH7’s first recording session of the year arrived. Today, they record the theme song for their show!
Takanashi Otoharu: Congrats on the show! It was decided a while ago, but here’s the theme song!
Izumi Mitsuki: Wow….. What a great song! I’m sure our viewers will remember it and singing it too!
Rokuya Nagi: It’s perfect for Riku’s voice!
Nanase Riku: You think so? Thanks!
Izumi Iori: This is the biggest chance for us, IDOLiSH7, to spread our name. Sing it with all your might!
Nanase Riku: Yeah! Got– *cough* …Got it!
Izumi Iori: Nanase-san……

To be continued……

TL Notes/Comments:

(1) Takanashi Tsumugi says ご本人は不本意 which throws me off a little because either it was Tamaki or Aya that was unwilling/unintentional abt Aya turning into a big buzzword kinda thing?? Mm it makes more sense for Tamaki to be the subject though, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
(2) iori can u maybe, talk likea normal 17 ye ar o ld.? the quick and dirty summary is that say Tamaki’s’ on a show and he’s bored. He’s not gonna make any attempts to look remotely interested because if he’s bored, he’s bored. If the audience is thinking 'damn this is a boring ass show,“ he might voice similar thoughts since he’s that kind of person– unabashedly direct, straightforward, honest (even when he shouldn’t be). It’s this sort of in-group analysis that makes me enjoy Iori’s lines so muCH. Also sINCE IM ON THIS TANGENT ANYWAYS, this makes MEZZO” a pretty interesting dynamic since they are Very Much So opposites, with Sougo being the definition of restraint, propriety, following rules etcetc.
(3) dman iori please never stop talking about your memBERS i cOULD LIVE Off of this. ANYWAYS to clarify just in case, Mitsuki is much closer to the 'creators’ aka the people on the other side of the screen, while Tamaki is closer to the audience/your side of the screen. Mitsuki will try to 'create’ the appropriate atmosphere for a show, aka push the conversation where it needs to go. Hence sometimes variety shows will feel 'fake’ or staged. But Tamaki is, again, not one to suck-up to any of his co-stars and probably will be honest if their joke sucks, even if it disrupts the flow of conversation. ThiS TL NOTE Is turning into a lot of me extrapolating but g g gg od, Iori is a meta-machine in his own right even though he himself is the source material!!
(4) somteims i sit in the darkness of my bedroom at 1:30 am, translating, and curse the absolutely terrible leap that is converting something from with east asian syntax into english and i. okay. So Riku has this overwhelming, excellent, incredible, fantastic singing power. And is a genius, possessing a charm to him that makes everyone love him. That is the literal. Iori’s trying to say that Riku is really damN good at 'being loved’ aka you CANT HELP BUT LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL RED SUNSHINE!!! (me crooning わかるー at my phone at like 5 am when i first played through this scene a few weeks ago). So yeah, that’s the explanation! Riku just has something in him that you can’t help but love– and that’s what Iori is dubbing 'genius’ because Riku just does it; it’s something intrinsic.
(5) brocon = brother complex, and i sure hope you all know what that means by noW lmao
(6) M mM ME IN TE ARS BECAUSE THIS IS A REFERENCE TO MONSTER GENERATION, ABOUT CREATING A tHEIR OWN ERA, THEIR OWN GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER F AD E???? Does not help that Takanashi Tsumugi’s subsequent few linES ARE ALSO A REFERENCES TO MONGEN CAN U BOTH NOT (specifically yamato’s 走り始めた and tamaki’s 目まぐるしく………….. x-files theme song blasting in the bg wHAT COULD THIS MEAN probably not much rlly)
(7) Okami = the mistress or head lady boss of traditional places like ryokan (Japanese-style inns). You can read up on it over here! But yeah that’s why Yamato’s like… do we… have to… dress the part too…. (aka crossdressing) and:^) BOY I WISH I COULD’VE SEEN THIS
(8) DUDE I DIDNT KNOW U NEEDED A LICENSE TO BE A CHEF But yeah, you do (in america too ooh) so yeaH ~the more u learn~ DAMN MIKKII THO
There’s two main ways you can become a certified chef in Japan! One is to go to culinary school for 1+ years, graduate, and you can get your certification without taking an exam that way. The other way is to work for 2+ years in an actual restaurant/food place, and if you pass the license test you’ll get your certification. Seeing how the Izumi’s have Fonte Chocolate aka the cake shop (did u mean patisserie bc its fancy af maN), I’m guessing Mitsuki probably just went and took the test since he’s already got irl experience in the food industry from that. I don’t know what these TL notes are turning into but i do know that i’m doing a lot of aimless googling here and there and this is kind of a Mess.
(9) Dagashi (駄菓子) = cheap sweets, think dollar store candy but Japanese!
Fugashi (麩菓子) = a traditional sweet that I have never had before so I can’t adequately explain, but coincidentally I did contemplate buying some yesterday when I went grocery shopping simply because it had Okinawan Brown Sugar on the packaging, and I…..

As usual, if you see any mistakes/mistranslations, please message me!

Thank you for reading!

ALSO I have been sitting on some of these tl’s for… a while now… mostly because my original intent was to post the text translation as a Read More for the video+subs but based off of the feedback, people have asked for the text and video translations to be separate so Here I Am

The waiting room

Takanashi Tsumugi: And so, the day for IDOLiSH7’s guest appearance on Re:vale’s program came.
Takanashi Tsumugi: Good job everyone! It seems like recording will start on time.
Osaka Sougo: Understood. Speaking of which, Riku isn’t here. Do you know where he is?
Takanashi Tsumugi: He went to the bathroom with Nagi-san. It seems like Riku-san’s condition has been worsening more readily as of late…
Izumi Iori: There’s something I wish to discuss in regards to that, before he returns. Nanase-san’s physical condition deteriorates whenever he is stressed, correct?
Izumi Iori: And isn’t there something that could very easily become a major cause of stress?
Takanashi Tsumugi: …? Major, you say? Wouldn’t that be Iori-san?
Izumi Iori: What are you trying to say.
Takanashi Tsumugi: Aah! My cheek–
Izumi Iori: What I was referring to was our senpai, Re:vale. They could easily be seen as intimidating people.
Izumi Mitsuki: I was thinking the same thing. Like what if they ignore us when we go to greet them, or what if they’re super scary?
Izumi Mitsuki: I tried to reassure myself by searching them up online, but all I got was stuff like about how they have nasty tempers or they don’t get along with others……
Izumi Iori: Re:vale have been consistently winning, so things like common courtesy and greeting others might be trivial to them.
Yotsuba Tamaki: Like how there wasn’t a gift for us? (1)
Osaka Sougo: Maybe they didn’t need feel the need to give us anything……
Takanashi Tsumugi: W-what should we do?
Nikaidou Yamato: Even if those rumors are true, there’s nothing we can do about it.
Nikaidou Yamato: But just saying, according to the internet, me and Mitsu are in a power struggle for leader position. As such, our group is still in a dangerous situation, even to this day.
Izumi Mitsuki: Yeah, no.
Nikaidou Yamato: Also according to the internet, the members of MEZZO" hang out together out on their days off and get along just swell.
Yotsuba Tamaki: Nope.
Osaka Sougo: Not at all.
Nikaidou Yamato: But just in case, let’s all be on guard, alright?
Takanashi Tsumugi: I-I will proceed with utmost caution! I will practice how to exchange business cards formally, before going forth!
Nanase Riku: Sorry for the wait, everyone!
Rokuya Nagi: We found Re:vale’s waiting room! Is it OK if we open their door with a bang?
Izumi Mitsuki: No, no, no!
Izumi Iori: We must all be in order, and knock on their door with all the politeness in the world, understood?
Nanase Riku: A-are Re:vale scary people?
Izumi Iori: Not at all~ They’re not scary at all. Now, now. Please relax.
Nanase Riku: Could you maybe, not talk like you’re trying to hypnotize me?
Takanashi Tsumugi: Everyone, I’m sure you’re all aware of this already, but let’s just go over it again just in case.
Takanashi Tsumugi: Re:vale’s Momo-san. With a bright, sunny disposition, he’s quite popular and appears very frequently on variety shows.
Nanase Riku: All the shows Momo-san appear on are full of cheer and really fun! I’m sure he’s nice and a really good person.
Izumi Iori: Are you aware of the fact that your extremely sharp-tongued twin brother is often called a modern-day angel on television? (2)
Nanase Riku: Well, Ten-nii is an angel!
Izumi Iori: This brocon…
Takanashi Tsumugi: Continuing on, Yuki-san. With a calm and collected atmosphere about him, Yuki-san is a skilled actor and has received much praise for his work.
Izumi Mitsuki: Yuki-san sure is cool! I cried when I watched his first movie, that one historical drama with Chiba Shizuo-san!
Izumi Mitsuki: That one was so good! His acting ability puts most actors to shame. Did you also watch that one, Yamato-san?
Nikaidou Yamato: No.
Takanashi Tsumugi: Alright…… Let us embark, and go say our greetings to Re:vale!
All: Yeah!
Nikaidou Yamato: It sounds like we’re going on a raid……
*knock knock*
*click*

Takanashi Tsumugi: Please excuse the intrusion. This is IDOLiSH7, from Takanashi Productions. I am their manager, Takanashi Tsumugi.
Takanashi Tsumugi: We look forward to working with you today!

Momo: Oh?
Yuki: IDOLiSH7?
Takanashi Tsumugi: Oh boy, they’re the real thing…. It’s Re:vale, in the flesh!

To be continued……

TL Note/Comments:

FORGOT TO MENTION THIS ON 1.2 AND 1.3, BUT BIG SHOUTOUT TO @kuriiii FOR BEING MY ENGLISH PROOFREADER and also for being a laptop gladiator ™ and wrangling her macbook to put subs!! onto videos!!! AAAA

(1) temiyage is like this small gift thing given to visitors. I’m assuming that there generally is one for guests (on shows etc), so the lack of one was unsettling to the i7 boys. Aka iori talking about ‘ok maybe re:v are like super big-shots so idk they dont needa be polite anymore ya feel" and tamaki and sougo going “o shit thATS wHy we don’t have this Common Courtesty Item ….”
(2) Iori actually calls ten “poisonous-tongued” which is so accUrate because ten aims to hurt and is downright venomous….. (I Love Kujou Ten)(Spoiler Alert: I Love Everyone)
WOW That was a refreshingly short section! B l e s s
CHIBA SHIZUO……………. that’s all I can say for now because all I have is speculation but…. I have my eye on you….
honestly whenever i write *knock knock* all i can think of is “knock knock, its the United States”
I will never not laugh at nanase “gee momo sounds like a nice person bc hes nice on tv” riku, izumi “so did u know ur douchebag brother, coincidentally also Very Nice on tv, is called an angel???” iori, and then takanashi “OKAY SO ANYWAYS” tsumugi

As usual, if you see any mistakes/mistranslations, please message me!

Thank you for reading!!
