The Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine was founded in 1924 and was introduced as the Vitebsk Veterinary Institute. In 1974 the Institute was awarded the «Badge of Honour» Order. In 1994 the institute was reorganized into the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Now it is a modern educational and research centre.
The Academy is located in several buildings. Some of them were built in the pre-war period and some are modern and new.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnological Faculty train students to become skilled veterinary medicine or animal husbandry professionals.
Some students begin their studies at the preparatory department. Those who want to combine work and studies can study by correspondence.
Veterinary and zooengineering specialists can develop their qualification at the up-dating faculty.
There are academicians, professors and doctors of sciences on the staff of the Academy.
The faculties comprise 28 departments.
Students attend lectures and practical classes.
