The article of V. Yakovlev is devoted to the reconstruction of approaches to the analysis of signs and the miracles belonging to one of the ancestors of the European philosophy of religion - to Thomas Gobbs. He has anticipated tradition of rational criticism significant and wonderful, and, on the other hand, has acted with actual apologia of their Bible-Christian analogues. In article the detailed comment on the reflections of the philosopher concerning definition of a miracle, its semantics and etymology is given. The author considers, that T. Gobbs, thus, has created conditions for formation of gnosiology and phenomenology of a miracle.
