I. University of Yuväskylä: Faculty of Information Technology

The Faculty is the first and largest of its kind in Finland and was founded in 1998. However, Information Systems Science has been taught at the University of Jyväskylä since 1967.

Currently, there are more than 1500 Bachelor's and Master's level students and 150 doctoral level students studying in the Faculty of Information Technology. There are nearly 200 members of staff working in the Faculty.

The Faculty has an international atmosphere:

· 10% of all Master's Degree students are international

· 40% of all PhD students are international

· 20% of all staff at the Faculty are international

· 30+ incoming and outgoing exchange students annually

· Two internationally recruiting Master's Degree Programs delivered in English

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is unique in Finland in combining information technology teaching with economic sciences. The department is in collaboration with a number of local and international businesses and public organizations.

Our aim is to train highly competent professionals of information management, software production and commerce, electronic commerce and digital media, to provide professionals working in other fields with basic skill sets in using and managing information technology, as well as to carry out internationally acclaimed, high quality research in selected fields of expertise.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is located in the Agora building by lakeJyväsjärvi. True to its name (Gr; market, meeting place), the Agora building brings together students, teachers, researchers and businesses.
