a) practical work: 1) Checking Home Work – Text “The Roman Occupation” p.60 of the textbook. Reading, translation;
2) identify etymology of as many words as you can in this exercise.
b) answer the question:In what spheres of communication do international words frequently occur?
practical work: 1) ex.6 p.73 (classify the borrowings given in this exercise according to the sphere of human activity they represent; identify their types);
2) ex.8 p.74 (listen to the jokes from this text and try to sort out the examples of international words)
c) give argumented opinion on the following question: What do we understand by etymological doublets?
practical work: ex.4 p.73 (state the origin of the etymological doublets represented in this exercise; compare their meanings and explain why they are called “etymological doublets”?
d) share your opinion with the students: What is meant by “ etymological triplets”?
Give your examples and explanation.
practical work: ex.12 p.75 (describe the etymology of the following words; comment upon their stylistic characteristics).
e) speak out: How do you understand the term “ translation-loans”? Give the examples.
