Two faces of modern extremism

The article examines the leading trends in the transformation of extremism as a socio-cultural phenomenon in the 21st century. It is shown that the virtualization of social reality and the transition of society into the stage of social turbulence lead to the spread of information warfare and a significant change in the forms and content of extremist activity. Two main types of manifestations of extremist activity are singled out and described in the article: spontaneous extremist fluctuations within the sociocultural system and manipulative technologies of destruction of state and civilizational systems (which are used by radical political movements and geopolitical rivals).
