УПОТРЕБЛЕНИЕ АРТИКЛЕЙ С ГЕОГРАФИЧЕСКИМИ НАЗВАНИЯМИ
Артикль не употребляется с большинством географических названий: континентов, стран, штатов, городов, улиц, плошадей, парков, станций метро, аэропортов, а также островов и озер:
Africa, America, Europe Африка, Америка, Европа
Scotland, Russia Шотландия, Россия
Texas, Alaska, Ohio Техас, Аляска, Огайо
New York, London Нью-Йорк, Лондон
Main Street, 42 Street Мейн Стрит, Сорок вторая улица
Times Square, Red Square Таймс Сквер, Красная площадь
Central Park Центральный Парк
Hawaii, Long Island Гавайи, Лонг-Айленд
Lake Ontario, Lake Michigan озеро Онтарио, озеро Мичиган
Определенный артикль употребляется с названиями океанов, морей, рек, каналов, горных массивов, частей света, а также с названиями государств, если в состав названия входят слова: «республика», «штаты», «королевство» или «союз»:

Определенный артикль также употребляется, если географическое название выражено существительным во множественном числе:
