Трагедия Норд-Оста

Вооружённые чеченские боевики во главе с Мансуром Бараевым ворвались в здание бывшего Дворца культуры Государственного шарикоподшипникового завода, когда на сцене шёл мюзикл «Норд-Ост».

В зале находилось более 900 человек. Захватившие заложников заминировали зал; среди них также были несколько женщин с поясами смертниц.

На следующий день телеканал «Аль-Джазира» показал запись боевиков Бараева, сделанную до захвата театра. Они требовали вывода российских войск из Чечни.

Рано утром 26 октября 2002 года российский спецназ нейтрализовал боевиков с помощью газа. Спецназовцы вошли в здание и застрелили всех боевиков, которые находились без сознания, - 18 женщин и 32 мужчины.

Газ подействовал и на сотни заложников, находившихся в здании. Большинство погибших умерли именно на этом этапе – предположительно, им не была оказана необходимая медицинская помощь. Кроме того, медицинские учреждения не знали, какое именно противоядие требовалось.

Российские власти считают применение спецслужбами газа своевременным и обоснованным, так как боевики готовились взорвать здание.

Среди погибших заложников «Норд Оста» - 120 россиян и восемь граждан других стран.
