Top Ten Ways to Find a Job

Tips and hints in regards to job-hunting today.

With today’s changing economic climate, there is a need to keep our job-hunting skills fresh and up to date. Ways of finding employment today have changed from the way that they were ten years ago. We have more resources at our disposal and a person who really wants to, can find a job if they use them to their advantage. Below are ten very effective ways to job-hunt and secure employment in a very competitive world today. It may seem like there are ten people waiting to apply for that one job that is listed in the paper or on a job bank, but if you put all of the tips below to use, you are virtually guaranteed to find employment.

Walk the Walk

It isn’t likely that one will succeed in finding employment if they sleep until noon each day and stay up on the computer until 3:00 A.M. each night. One needs to put their mind and body into the mindset as if they were already working. That means early to bed and early to rise. Tell yourself that you are “between jobs” not jobless.

Act and dress as you would if you were working. There are no doors of employment open at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon so train yourself to be an early riser and a go-getter. If you have this “employed persona” about you it will seep into your ongoing search for a job and you will succeed in gaining employment. Subsequently, if you have the feel sorry for yourself and discouraged frame of mind, this radiates and spills over into your half-hearted efforts to find employment. We all know people who get laid off and are at a new place of employment the same week. Yet still we know others who it seems have been out of work for months, and often complain that nobody is hiring or they can’t seem to find a job anywhere. The latter of these types of individuals is not “walking the walk” of the employed person.
