Environmental pollution includes:
1) pollution of the lithosphere that occurs as a result of construction and mining, as well as by industrial, agricultural and domestic wastes;
2) pollution of the hydrosphere, which is the result of the dumping of waste into seas and rivers;
3) air pollution, which occurs as a result of combustion of fossil fuels.

There are three ways of solving environmental problems:
1) establishment of treatment facilities;
2) development of environmental technologies;
3) rational location of dirty industries.

Most of the life forms that live on Earth could not exist without oxygen contained in the air. Living organisms use oxygen to break down food and produce energy. Plants he also needed to transform what they receive nutrients into energy. The air we breathe contains not only oxygen, but also many other gases. Most of the nitrogen - 78%, oxygen 21%, and the remaining 1% is other gases.Although these gases represent only 1% of the total volume of air, the slightest increase of their content can lead to very dangerous consequences. Nevertheless, human activities have emitted into the air more harmful gases. This phenomenon is usually referred to as air pollution.

One of the main causes of air pollution is the combustion of fossil fuels, such as oil, coal and natural gas. These flammable substances are used for generating electricity, fueling automobile engines, production of chemicals and plastics, for heating homes, offices, factories... Waste resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels released into the atmosphere through chimneys and exhaust pipes. This includes carbon monoxide gas, whose molecules are compounds of equal number of atoms of carbon and oxygen. This gas is produced when fuel burns with a low content of air, as in automobile engines. Carbon monoxide is a toxic substance which is detrimental effect on living organisms, preventing the transport of oxygen carrying red blood cells.
