If a friend of mine didn'tknow where to go after finishing school, I wouId advice him to apply for Foreign Language Department of the State Armavir Pedagogical University. All he needsis to be fond of children and to be interested In foreignlanguages. I have been studing for 5 yearsat this Department and I think that's one of the best at the University. Here one knows: if you have chosen to study foreign languages at our University, no doubt, you will have ever opportunity to relive foreign language training. The curriculum for the year includes the major foreign languages, Latin, computer studies, history, philosophy, Russian and many other subjects. Students of the senior courses study 2 foreign languages, pedagogics methodology and a course in theory of the language. University classes begin in September and go on until late June, with a break in winter. Our students take active part in the social life and extracurricular activities: they give amateur art concerts at the performances: there are many excellent sportsmen among our students. They all take part in contests which take place in our town. Students of senior courses have summer camp practice and school practice. And I should confess it is an unforgetable t experience. It helps to know better our future profession and it's the first time when you feel yourself a really adult and responsible person! So. our students are given all opportunities to have a good knowledge ofnumerous subjects and become good specialists.

7. Your friend doesn`t know which profession to choose. Try to explain to her what personal traits are needed to become...

There are so many carrers, open to the choice. But this choice, first of all depends on you, on your personal traits, on your character.

I have known my friend since my childhood, and I absolutely convinced, that she is a real teacher by vocation. She is very patient, responsible, self-confident and what`s more important –she is very sociable, open and loves children very much.

As everybody knows, teaching is a specific and difficult job. It shouldn`t be taken easily. The teacher is a person, who is learning as well as teaching all her life. And my friend is a such type of a person. She likes teaching other people very much..It is a great responsibility to be a teacher.She doesn`t just teach her pupils, but develops their intellect, forms their viewpoints and characters, their attitudes to life and to other people.

The idea of having a single career is becoming an old fashioned one. The new fashion will be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout life. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Prove your mind.

I understand that to merely "know English" is not in itself much of an asset nowadays, because lots of people do too. Some people would tell you that English is not a profession but a must for everyone. To survive the new trends and changes it is good insurance to have other back-up skills to add to your language skills. If you are a student of a pedagogical university you have those major skills already — that is, the ability to teach English. The forecast is that the demand for teachers will continue to grow and by far outstrip the supply. Teaching opportunities tend to vary with changes in economic conditions: new institutions of learning mushroom in this country, including fee-paying secondary schools, gymnasiums, colleges and courses. Another popular area of teaching English is on-the-job or in-service training where a company may contract you to teach their staff on the company premises. If you need more flexibility on account of your family status you may teach from home. With the positive trends in society's attitude towards small business you can build your own network and cither give one-to-one lessons or teach in a group setting.
