Smoking

 

Smoking is a harmful habit which shortens life. Cigarette smokers absorb nicotine, carcinogenic tars and carbon monoxide into the lungs. Heavy cigarette smokers are 30 times as liable to develop lung cancer as non-smokers are. Prolonged cigarette smoking causes progressive cough and difficulty breathing leading to respiratory incapacity. While smoking is bad for your health at any time, there are a lot of hazards during pregnancy. Pregnant women who smoke cigarettes have smaller babies than nonsmokers, with a higher incidence of fetal abnormalities.
