VALERIAN

The generic name comes from the Latin «valere» – good health.

Valerian is a tall, straight, perennial herbaceous plant. Its underground part consists of a short, vertical, conical rhizome having numerous rootlets.

The stem is a hollow cylinder 1-2 m high. It is branched at the terminal region and has pinnate, cauline, opposite leaves. At the top of the stem and its branches there appear in summer a corymbiform panicle with numerous white or pink florets. The fruits are oblong-ovate having akenes. Roots and rhizomes having characteristic odour of wild and cultivated valerian are of great medicinal value. They contain essential oil, isovaleric acid, borneol, terpens, valepotriats etc.

Roots and rhizomes are widely used in medicine as raw material for preparing medicinal forms (infusions, tinctures, tablets and extracts).

Drug containing Valerian are used as sedative and antispasmodic in hysteria, palpitation etc.

1 ) посмотреть клип «Top 15 Most Powerful Medicinal Plants», выписать 15 названий лекарственных растений, перевести их.

2) посмотреть клип «Best Herbs for Energy, Using Natural Herbal Stimulants», перевести текст на титрах

Создать собственный проект-мультимедийную презентацию по одному из лекарственных растений или БАДу.

Требования к проекту-мультимедийной презентации:

- создан в приложении «Power point» в формате ppt. или pptx., приложение к MS Office любого года (формат open. Document не допускается)

- объем (8-10 слайдов)

-  текст крупный, читабельный, соблюден контраст фона и текста

- текстовая информация на слайде – не больше 1-2 предложений (словосочетаний)

- грамотность, соблюдение орфографии, транслит может быть использован только при переводе имен собственных (например, Torgovaya street)

- наличие титульного слайда с информацией о теме, создателе презентации

- визуальный материал – фото, картинки – качественный, в высоком разрешении

- приветствуется (не обязательно) наличие анимации, диаграмм, видео, аудио
