Если металлическую пластинку опустить не в воду, а в раствор собственных ионов, может оказаться так, что общая концентрация ионов в растворе станет больше, чем та равновесная концентрация, о которой говорилось выше. Но концентрация ионов металла вблизи его поверхности будет стремиться к равновесной, и поэтому «избыточные» катионы, оказавшиеся вблизи металла, осаждаются на его поверхности (рис.2,б). При этом поверхность металла заряжается положительно, а раствор у поверхности – отрицательно.
