Earnest Fine, an executive vice president at XYZ Corp., has been arrested and charged with illegal insider trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Insider trading is illegal use of confidential knowledge for personal gain in the stock market. Fine was accused by the SEC, which oversees the market, of having stolen secret memos from other companies which allowed him to buy and sell their stocks at great personal profit. The FBI investigated and then arrested Fine. XYZ’s chairman and CEO, Ralph Weinberg, said that the company has a strict policy against insider trading. He added that if the charges are true, he will fire Fine.
