Task II. Translate the words from Russian into English.
Тариф is a tax взимаемый by a national правительство on goods that are ввозятся or, less often, exported across the граница of a country or that of a group of countries that have formed a таможенный союз.
Протекционистские тарифы are designed to protect domestic производство from foreign конкуренция by raising the цена of the imported товар and restricting imports.
Фискальные тарифы are designed to obtain revenue, i.e. to provide a major источник дохода for the federal government.

Task VI. Translate the text into Russian.
Import duties are generally applied for the purpose of carrying out a particular economic policy, and in this context may be used to serve many functions:
1) to reduce the overall level of imports by making them more expensive relative to their home-produced substitutes, with the aim of eliminating a balance of payments deficit;
2) to fight against restrictive measures imposed by other countries;
3) to protect a new industry until it is sufficiently well established to compete with more developed industries of other countries;
4) to protect “key” industries, such as agriculture, without which the economy would be vulnerable in time of war.
