"STEPPES OF NORTHERN EURASIA"

The First Information Letter

 

The Steppe Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, together with other organizations concerned, hosts the Ninth International Symposium titled "Steppes of Northern Eurasia".

The Symposium will be held in Orenburg on June 7-11, 2021. It includes work on thematic areas, roundtable discussions, field events and excursions. Before the start of the Symposium, its materials will be published (RSCI citing index). Each article will be assigned a digital identifier (DOI).

THEMATIC AREAS OF THE NINTH SYMPOSIUM:

1. Current issues of modern steppe natural resource use and conservation of natural and historical and cultural heritage.

2. Genesis, natural evolution and modern structure of steppe landscapes and landscape components.

3. Biological diversity of steppe regions and their conservation issues.

4. Ecological-hydrological and water management aspects of steppe nature management under a changing climate.

5. Development of methodology for assessing the ecological state of landscapes under the influence of various anthropogenic factors. Current environmental issues.

6. Socio-economic, natural resource, tourist and recreational potential of the steppe regions. Challenges and prospects for sustainable development of border territories.

Panel discussions, round tables and poster presentations will be planned on specific ecological and geographical issues of the Eurasian Steppe based on the received applications.

To participate in the Symposium, a completed registration card must be sent by email (Annex 1) to the organizing Committee (steppeworld@gmail.com) until October 1, 2020.

For registration by the Steppe Institute of UB RAS applications for the grant RFBR for support of scientific conferences, in connection with the new requirement of "not less than 50% of papers of Russian participants should be prepared for the results of the projects supported by RFBR", please indicate the grant number that you (or your co-author) has previously participated in or continue to participate at present in the area of scientific report.

 

The second Information Letter with the refined dates and conditions of participation will be sent to you on the basis of applications after November 1, 2020.

Reports for publication in the on-line issue of the Ninth International Symposium "Steppes of Northern Eurasia" are accepted by email steppeworld@gmail.com until February 1, 2021.

The subject of the email is the Ninth Symposium, the name of the attached file is the name of the first author and the number of the thematic area (for example: Müller_2).

If there is no confirmation of receipt of the email with your report within three days, please duplicate the sending of the document.

 

The beginning of online registration and acceptance of reports for publication on the website of the Symposium will be announced later.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE REPORTS PROVIDED

 

Reports should correspond to the main thematic areas of the Symposium.

The text must be typed on a computer in a Microsoft Word text editor, font Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 intervals, paragraph indent 1.25 cm, on A4 paper (210x297 mm), the left field 30 mm, the rest fields 20 mm.

Reports should have the Universal Decimal Classification index (UDC). The report must be accompanied by an abstract in Russian and English (250-400 characters) and keywords (3-5 words/phrases).

The volume of the report text is up to 10 pages, including figures, tables, and diagrams, which are numbered in order. Automatic word wrap is not allowed. When typing, pay attention to the correct use of the dash and hyphen. The multiplication sign must be authentic.

Figures and tables are placed in the text after the references to them. The table number and name are aligned to the right margin above the table. The number and name of the figure are aligned to the left margin under the figure. Graphic materials are provided as separate files in the format *tif, *jpg, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

References in the text are indicated by numbers in square brackets – [3, 6], corresponding to their numbers in the list of references. The list of references is made in accordance with GOST standard 7.0.5–2008 “Bibliographic reference. General requirements and rules” and placed at the end of the text; after 1 line, the words are printed in capital letters (without font selection): REFERENCES, which are centered. Below, all the sources used are listed, single-spaced, in alphabetical order, the reports in Russian go first, then in foreign languages. Individual works by the same author are arranged in chronological order.

Links to grants and other sources of research funding are placed at the end of the article and highlighted in bold italics.

The organizing Committee of the Symposium reserves the right to reject materials that do not comply with the rules and main thematic areas of the Symposium, with notification of the author.

Materials are published in the author's edition, the authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data provided.
