II. Translate the following derivative words:

adjective + -ance / -ence → noun

distant – distance, present – presence, different – difference;

adjective + -ness, -dom → noun

dark – darkness, quick – quickness, hard – hardness, near – nearness, free – freedom, wise – wisdom;

noun + -al → adjective

exception – exceptional, profession – professional, tradition – traditional, person – personal, continent – continental.

III. Form the words using suffixes -ance / -ence, -ness, -dom, -al:

independent, vast, black, white, calm, kind, culture, invitation, computation, coast.

IV. Define to what parts of speech the following words belong:

inventor, equipment, worker, freedom, entrance, famous, connection, dangerous, inventor, darkness, electrical, economist, traditional, exceptionally, ability, calculation.

V. Suggest the Russian equivalents for the following phrases:

Обратите внимание на чтение следующих числительных. Числительные, которые употребляются с неопределенным артиклем: 100 – a (one) hundred, 1,000 – a (one) thousand, 1,000,000 – a (one) million.

Чтение сложных числительных: 109 – one hundred and nine; 694 – six hundred and ninety-four; in 1982 (nineteen eighty-two).
