Сослагательное наклонение

(THE SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD)

Сослагательное наклонение употребляется:

1) всегда, когда необходимо передать предполагаемо, возможное или желаемое действие (без всяких условий), например:

I should (would) like to go to London. – Мне хотелось бы поехать в Лондон.

I might help him. – Я могла бы помочь ему.

The method would give better results. – Этот метод дал бы лучшие результаты.

2) после безличных конструкций типа: it is necessary – необходимо (чтобы), it is important – важно (чтобы) и после глаголов, выражающих предложение, приказание, пожелание, типа: to ask – просить (чтобы), to demand – требовать (чтобы), to wish – хотеть (чтобы), например:

It is necessary that he be present at the lesson. – Необходимо, чтобы он присутствовал на уроке.

He demanded that we change the plan. – Он потребовал, чтобы мы изменили план.

I wish she would not go there. – Мне хочется, чтобы она не ходила туда.

3) в условных придаточных предложениях (маловероятное/предполагаемое условие), которые вводятся союзом if – если.

- в главном предложении – сложная форма: should, would, could, might + Infinitive без to;

- в придаточном предложении – простая форма, совпадающая по форме с Past Indefinite.Например:

If I had time I should go to the cinema. – Если бы у меня было время, я пошел бы в кино.

If I had a car things would be fine. – Если бы у меня была машина, все было бы прекрасно.

Сослагательное наклонение глагола to be обычно передается одной формой were для всех лиц и чисел, например:

If it were possible I would do it. – Если бы это было возможно, я сделал бы это.

If I were you I would buy the book. – Если бы я был на твоем месте, я купил бы эту книгу.

Ex.1. Переведите предложения на русский язык, прокомментируйте употребление сослагательного наклонения.

Ex.2. Заполните пропуски подходящими глаголами.

Ex.3. Преобразуйте предложения по образцу.

Model: I will go if you wan t me to. – I would go if you wanted me to.

1. If you help me with the chairs, the room will soon be ready. 2. If I receive any news, I shall let you know. 3. I will iron your shirt if you bring it to me. 4. You will become a strong man if you eat porridge. 5. If the manager is in, the secretary will tell you. 6. If you do that, you will be all right. 7. If the cat is hungry, I will give it some food. 8. Fred will pass his examination if he works. 9. If the blouse matches this skirt, I will buy it. 10. The boy will post you letter, if you give it to him. 11. If you work hard you’ll do the job. 12. If you don’t follow his advice he’ll get angry with you.
