Articulators are used for application processes indirectly, outside the patient’s mouth. This is very economic and time saving because many procedures can’t be done inside the patient’s mouth. Benefits of articulators are:
· Patient’s cooperation is not a factor: we work on them while the patient is not there. So we are not affected by the patient’s status.
· It provides a constant centric relation and proper positioning of the TMJ.
· We can see the occlusion completely.
· We can examine the lingual areas.
· It is a time saver.
Different articulator types are used depending on the type of restoration being fabricated as well as personal preference of the clinician or dental technician.
Adjustable dental articulators enable the technician to individually set the joint angles are necessary in a dental lab to fabricate prosthodontic and orthodontic restorations and appliances.
