The greeting is Dear + first name. We usually thank the recipient for their last letter (or phone call/postcard, etc.) in the opening sentence. The closing sentence usually mentions a future plan or wish (e.g. I hope you can come/Write to me soon).

I Punctuation
Capital letters
We use capital letters (C, L)...
• at the beginning of a sentence: He came into the room.
• at the beginning of names (of people, places, days, months, books, films):
John Brown Paris, France Monday, Tuesday June, July War and Peace Independence Day
• for the pronoun I: What do I want?
Full stops
We use a full stop (.) at the end of a sentence: Let's meet on Tuesday.
Commas
