Do you agree that there are a lot of famous people in Great Britain. What famous British people do you know? What made them famous?

Yea, I agree that there are a lot of famouspeople in Great Britain. I can name William Shakespeare (an outstanding play - writer), Isaac Newton (a great scientist), Winston Churchill (a politician) etc. They are known not only in their country but all over the world.

I’d like to say a few words about Isaac Newton. He lived about five hundred years ago, in the 15th century. Once he saw an apple fall and he wondered why it always fell to the ground. Thus he discovered the law of gravitation. Isaac Newton also proved that the white light of the sun is a mixture of lights of different colours.

3. Imagine you are talking to William Shakespeare. What questions would you ask him? I think I’ll ask him the following questions:

4. The first q-n: Why did you kill Romeo and Juliette?

5. The second q-n Are you a happy man?

6. The third q-n: Would you like to live in another century?

Your friend has only one day to stay in London. Advise him what places of interest are worth visiting.

I think I'll give him the following advice:

· First you must go and see the Tower of London. It is interesting to know that the Tower of London was used as a fortress, a royal residence and a prison. Now it is a museum.

· Then, of course, you must visit St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey with Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Trafalgar Square with Nelson Column, the National Gallery, the British Museum, Hide Park and Buckingham Palace where the Queen liv.

Who has the greatest power in the UK? What does the term 'parliamentary monarchy' mean?

The King or the Queen has the greatest power in the UK. Now it is Queen Elizabeth. But in reality she doesn’t rule. The country is ruled by the parliament. So,the term 'parliamentary monarchy' means that there is the monarch in the country but in reality it is ruled by the parliament.
