Структура there is / there are

1. Зворот there is / there are повідомляє про наявність у визначеному місці особи чи предмету, ще невідомих співрозмовнику.

2. Зворот there is / there are має значення «є, знаходиться».

3. На українську мову речення такого типу, як правило, перекладається з обставини місця:

(Де?) На столі книга. - There is a book on the desk.

 

PRESENT SIMPLEPАST SIMPLE

1. Всі ці речення на українську перекладаються починаючи з місця, яке ми описуємо, а потім вже перекладається інша частина речення.

2. Якщо після структури there is обчислювальний об'єкт один, то перед ним ми завжди ставимо неозначений артикль a/an:

·There is a chair in the room.

Якщо ж у нас необчислювальний об'єкт або їх декілька, то ми не ставимо артиклів перед ними взагалі:

·There are desks in the private office.

3. Місцезнаходження предмета завжди використовується з означеним артиклем the:

·There are beds in the bedroom.

4. Місцезнаходження предмета завжди вказується наприкінці.

Наприклад: ·There are sofas in the room.

 

Негативні речення з структурою there is/there are

·There isn't a quiet area in the office. -В офісі немає зон для відпочинку

·There aren't restaurants in my street. -На моїй вулиці немає ресторанів.

Щоб розповісти про те, чого немає в приміщенні (зробити негативні речення) ставте часточку «not» після слова «is» або «are» (у конструкції there is/are). Як завжди, можна скорочувати сполучення is not (isn’t) і are not (aren’t):is not = isn't,are not = aren't.

Наприклад:

·There aren't shops opposite the market. -Напроти ринку немає магазинів.

·There isn't a computer in front of the picture. -Перед картиною немає комп'ютера.

Питання з there is/there are

Щоб дізнатися, чи є певний предмет у кімнаті або на вулиці, слід задавати питання, які вимагають відповіді «Yes, thereis/are» або «No, thereisn’t/aren’t»:

·Is there a car park near your house? -Біля твого будинку є парковка?
