Chapter 1.The Meeting.

Comment on the title of the book. Do you have any ideas what the book is about?

3. Chapter 2.The Business.

2. 3. Do you know homonyms to the following words: bare, week, leave, lay, park, glass, tear? Think of not less than ten pairs of homonyms you know.

4. Explain what the following words mean: accouter, partition, insurance brokers, loan, folder, floppy disks.

Say whether the following statements are true or false according to the text.

1. It was late autumn when Colin returned to Brentwood.

2. Colin usually didn’t give his wife a lift.

3. It was Julie who usually dealt with technical problems.

4. Colin longed for the meeting with Mr. Booker that day.

5. Colin had to earn not less than 40 000₤ till the end of the year.

6. Colin hoped to improve the situation with the help of Mr. Booker.

7. Mr. Booker didn’t support Colin’s intention concerning the loan.
