Герундий в роли обстоятельства

В роли обстоятельства перед герундием всегда используются предлоги, например, такие как in, on, before, after, without, by, about, at, to, of, for, through, besides, instead of.

We arrived in Madrid after driving all night. — Мы приехали в Мадрид (когда?)после того, как провели за рулем всю ночь.

Can you sneeze without opening your mouth? — Ты можешь чихать (как?), не открывая рот?

Упражнение № 3. Переведите предложения на русский язык письменно.

1. Spending your free time is better in one of the parks of the West End.

2. The UK continues succeeding in commerce.

3. All well-known streets in London, such as Whitehall, Downing Street, Fleet Street, are worth seeing.

4. We can’t speak about Northern Ireland without mentioning Southern Ireland, an independent republic.

5. I liked the idea of visiting the capital of Wales, Cardiff.
