Resolution towards Freedom

Takanashi Tsumugi: And so, the day before the Summer Island Music Festival….
Izumi Mitsuki: Woohoo! It’s the sea!!
Nikaidou Yamato: Mitsu’s shouting as usual.
Nanase Riku: The weather’s really good too! I bet it’d feel really nice to sing in this weather! I hope it’s sunny tomorrow when we perform!
Rokuya Nagi: …I hope it’s cloudy…. Please….
Izumi Mitsuki: It’s better if it’s sunny! Just suck it up and be a summer-loving penguin instead! We’ll help you out with all we’ve got too!
Yotsuba Tamaki: Oh. They’re playing Ryuu-aniki’s ad.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: A brand-new thrill for that flushed body of yours. Scorching Thunder Dry– now introducing dark ale. (1)
All: Wow, that was sexy….

Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Sorry, ma'am…. Thank you for inviting me, but I have rehearsal with my members after this….
Beautiful Madam: Well…. Then how about you have some fun on my bed tonight, without any rehearsal?
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I– I’m not too good at performing so I need those rehearsals! Sorry! (2)
Yaotome Gaku: Ryuu, come on!
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: My group member is calling me! ……Thanks, Gaku. You really saved me there.
Yaotome Gaku: Every. Single. Damn. Time. Why do you always end up in this mess?
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I couldn’t really reject her invitation….
Kujou Ten: I’ll give you a red hood as a present next time, so you can go out with your basket full of pie and wine.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Wine? I like awamori more, though! Oh….
Nanase Riku: –Ten-nii!
Yaotome Gaku: …It’s IDOLiSH7.
Kujou Ten: …….
Nanase Riku: Haa, haa …. Ten-nii, did you just get here!?
Kujou Ten: Riku, don’t run.
Nanase Riku: Haha, it’s okay! I didn’t run all that much! Hello Yaotome-san, Tsunashi-san!
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Hello, Riku-kun.
Yaotome Gaku: It’s really hot today, isn’t it?
Nanase Riku: It is summer after all!
Izumi Iori: Nanase-san, please don’t run! Don’t you know your own body– ……! TRIGGER….
Yaotome Gaku: It’s like when we met at Okinawa. Almost a year has passed since then, huh. You guys feel more like pros now.
Nanase Riku: Thank you very much! Ten-nii, do you have time to talk…? Just for a bit.
Kujou Ten: My schedule is full. Also, don’t use that nickname when we’re outside.
Nanase Riku: Got it…. Kujou-san, let’s do our best tomorrow.
Kujou Ten: I look forward to working with you.
Izumi Iori: Are you satisfied now? Let’s go, Nanase-san.
Nanase Riku: …Wait! Have you heard about the order tomorrow? After IDOLiSH7’s done singing, we’ll introduce TRIGGER and pass it on from there.
Nanase Riku: Ten– Kujou-san, if you don’t mind, we’ll be introducing “Let's☆SUMMER!” at that time! We’ll tell the band people too!
Kujou Ten: Riku….
Nanase Riku: If you blame it on us, then your agency won’t get mad at you guys, right? All of our members are okay with it! Because being unable to sing the songs you love is really painful.
Yaotome Gaku: Don’t do something so unnecessary. Why would you go that far for us?
Nanase Riku: This isn’t for TRIGGER. This is for the sake of our members, and for the sake of that song. Otherwise, Nagi would be really down in the dumps about it since he loves Sakura Haruki so much!
Nanase Riku: You know, Nagi said something. He said that if TRIGGER wasn’t going to sing it, then you guys should let us jack that song again.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: ‘Jack’…? Like what happened at SoundShip?
Nanase Riku: But you see, I’ve never thought of it as ‘jacking.’ Of course, I was really frustrated and felt really lonely when we couldn’t sing our debut song… But instead of seeing them as things that can be stolen, back and forth….
Nanase Riku: I think songs are something that can connect people’s hearts together!
Yaotome Gaku: Nanase….
Nanase Riku: That song connected us to TRIGGER. That’s why we want to hear you guys singing it and having fun.
Kujou Ten: …….
Nanase Riku: We’ll pass the baton to you tomorrow. Revive that song tomorrow, TRIGGER.

Izumi Mitsuki: The ocean’s so pretty! Doesn’t the breeze feel nice, Nagi?
Rokuya Nagi: This is perfect for picking up girls and marine sports. Do you mind if I go enjoy those activities for a bit?
Nikaidou Yamato: This ain’t the time to be playing around. Enjoy the concert tomorrow instead.
Rokuya Nagi: Beneath these summer skies, I can’t help but think of the summer song that we lost…. I feel so depressed….
Izumi Mitsuki: Nagi….
Nikaidou Yamato: Sakura Haruki, huh…. What was he to you, Nagi?
Rokuya Nagi: …….
Nikaidou Yamato: What?
Rokuya Nagi: …For someone who won’t reveal any of his personal information, you sure have the nerve to be asking me questions like this.
Nikaidou Yamato: Shut up. Fine then, don’t talk about it.
Izumi Mitsuki: Come on guys, don’t fight. It’s okay. I think I’m worse off here, considering I’m surrounded by habitual secret-keepers.
Nikaidou Yamato・Rokuya Nagi: Not in the slightest!
Izumi Mitsuki: I actually don’t mind that much, though.
Rokuya Nagi: Understood…. I shall now open up and speak, for the fifth time.
Nikaidou Yamato: Okay, but when were the other four times you opened up, if there were even that many?
Rokuya Nagi: I spent spent my days in loneliness for a very long time– until I met Haruki. I didn’t realize I was lonely until I heard his songs.
Rokuya Nagi: Songs have that power. They can sway our hearts, and they can nurture emotions, emotions that once were nameless. These songs, flying across the world…. They are people’s emotions themselves.
Rokuya Nagi: That song was never supposed to make anyone sad.
Rokuya Nagi: And yet, the song changed form and became sorrow. It was truly a painful sight, just like seeing an old tree that has fallen.
Izumi Mitsuki: I see…. You’re right…. It must have been awful to see people become so bitter about such a fun and cheery song and think of it as unpleasant…. A song that someone important to you composed,….
Nikaidou Yamato: TRIGGER…. They’re all really serious guys, deep down inside. For every part of the CD they had fun in, how should I put it…. It must be kinda painful to them now….
Nikaidou Yamato: It’d be nice if the people around them at their agency would just let them do what they want…
Izumi Mitsuki: Ah…. It’s TRIGGER’S manager.
Anesagi Kaoru: …IDOLiSH7…. I look forward to working with you tomorrow. Don’t drag my boys into anything weird. Got it?
Nikaidou Yamato: So they’re not gonna sing that song? Both TRIGGER and the audience are waiting for it.
Anesagi Kaoru: You don’t have a say in our agency’s policies. …While I do feel bad that something like that happened to you kids, protecting TRIGGER is much more important.
Izumi Mitsuki: If so, then protect their hearts too, dammit! Ah– Please protect their hearts too.
Anesagi Kaoru: …….
Izumi Mitsuki: Even if they’re all shiny on the outside, if they’re rotting on the inside then you’ve basically lost everything! I don’t want to see TRIGGER look so sorry.
Izumi Mitsuki: They’re all so cool, and handsome– don’t make them hang their heads in shame, please. They’re TRIGGER, for crying out loud, the group that all of Japan fell for!
Anesagi Kaoru: You kids….
Rokuya Nagi: Our manager wouldn’t just protect our prestige; she’d fight to protect our hearts too.
Rokuya Nagi: You too are a beautiful and brave woman like our manager. I’m begging you, don’t let that song or TRIGGER’s hearts die. Please spark a miracle to end all of this sorrow.
Rokuya Nagi: I am wishing this from the bottom of my heart.
Anesagi Kaoru: Nagi-kun….

Izumi Iori: You let the plan slip to Kujou-san…. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Even if I plan countermeasures.
Nanase Riku: Sorry. You went through all of that trouble to come up with an idea too…. But I just had to tell them.
Nanase Riku: I had to tell them that we have hopes for TRIGGER. When you tell me that you have hopes and expectations for me, I just get so happy…. I get so moved that I feel like my heart’s trembling. (3)
Izumi Iori: …….
Nanase Riku: You know, everyone was always nice to me because of how weak my body is. In a way, I was really happy about that. But….
Nanase Riku: Instead of the usual “It’s okay. You don’t have to sit still”…. I’ve always wanted someone to tell me this–
Nanase Riku: “If it’s you, then you should be able to do it. You’re the only one who can do it. Because it’s you, I can wish for it, even though I know I’m asking for too much. And even if you get covered in cuts and bruises, I want you to keep giving it your all.”
Izumi Iori: Nanase-san….
Nanase Riku: Ahaha…. There are times when I lose to the pressure, though. There are times when I mess up and get scared of getting covered in cuts and bruises.
Nanase Riku: But even so, that voice with all of its hopes and expectations for me just helps me stand straight again. I can keep on dreaming about the day I can finally say, “How about that!”
Nanase Riku: You’re pretty Spartan, Iori, but thanks to that, I now have this irreplaceable confidence in myself. I’ve changed, and I’m no longer that kid who was protected so preciously.
Nanase Riku: I want to be able to sing when you tell me to, Iori– even when every doctor in the world tells me 'no.’ So keep on expecting things out of me!
Nanase Riku: No matter how tattered and worn-out I am, you’re the only one who can be strict with me and scold me during those times.
Izumi Iori: ……. What harsh demands you make….
Nanase Riku: You’re the only one who do it, after all!
Izumi Iori: …TRIGGER will sing. You twins appear to be dissimilar but are actually quite similar. If somebody voices their wish, then you two will face them without fail.
Izumi Iori: That song hopes for summer, and it will be revived.

Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: The sound of the waves sure is comforting….
Yaotome Gaku: It really is….
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: A song that can connect us to IDOLiSH7, huh…. I’m really happy he thinks of it that way. …Riku-kun’s a good boy, isn’t he?
Kujou Ten: Why are you trying to get me to agree?
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Haha…. I just couldn’t help but think, 'As expected of Ten’s younger brother!’
Yaotome Gaku: ……. I ended up hearing IDOLiSH7’s “Let's☆SUMMER!” because of some circumstances.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Is that so….
Yaotome Gaku: After that, I couldn’t get the sound of their singing outta my head. After all….
Yaotome Gaku: They sounded like they were having so much fun.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Gaku….
Yaotome Gaku: That’s why I wanted to give it back to them. I wanted them to sing it again.
Yaotome Gaku: Even though it’s such a bright and cheery song, my chest just hurts every time I hear it…. I can’t listen to our own version anymore, even if I try. Because it’s a song that we’ve hurt others with– and that song has hurt us too.
Yaotome Gaku: But even so, thinking like that is rude to the song.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: That’s right. It’s not a sad song. I remember you were genuinely happy when you said that it was a song that’d excite the audience when performed live.
Yaotome Gaku: Ahaha…. You too, Ryuu. You looked like you were having fun.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Because I like lively and energetic songs. I like our usual cool and sexy songs too, but cheery songs like this are closer to how I’m like normally.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: And also because it’s a song full of our memories. Ten was honest with us for the first time because of it. He said said we were his friends.
Kujou Ten: …….
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Do you remember?
Kujou Ten: I do.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I was really happy.
Kujou Ten: I see.
Kujou Ten: …….
Kujou Ten: …I love that song too.
Yaotome Gaku: We know.
Kujou Ten: We love that song…. The same way you’d love a precious photo album, or a trophy. Or an old scar left on your body.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: That’s right. That’s the simplest answer.
Yaotome Gaku: What’s real is the time we spent singing, dancing, and having fun. All of that pain, and maintaining outward appearances– those things are just like static interference.
Kujou Ten: Shall we sing it?
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Let’s sing it.
Yaotome Gaku: We can sing it. We’re singers, after all. No one can lay a single finger on us when we’re on stage. We’re invincible during those moments.
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I don’t mind getting covered in cuts and bruises, if it’s with you two. I’d rather have meaningful wounds get carved into my body over staying unscathed. So I can remain proud of myself.
Kujou Ten: I like the sound of that. …I’m excited now.
Kujou Ten: Let us stage a coup d'etat once more. We are unrelenting revolutionary soldiers, not unscathed, unscratched jewels.
Kujou Ten: We shall use that song as our flag, and let it fly in the skies.

Takanashi Tsumugi: And so, the next day–
Takanashi Tsumugi: The Summer Island Music Festival began beneath clear skies.

To be continued….

TL Notes/comments:

(1) I CAN’T BELIEVE I LOOKED THIS UP but just a heads up, I am not a beer person so I Am not by any way or means knowledgable about this subject matter outside the scope of basic google searches bUT anyways. Ryuu says 'dark beer,’ but that didn’t sound as cool as the word 'ale.’ i’ve never heard of 'dark lager’ before (i’m sure it exists but again, i know like 2 things abt beer….) so i went and looked up the top beers in japan (my exact google search was “japanese beers are ales or lagers”) and lo n behold most of them are ales sO, yeah. that and mostly bc i’ve primarily heard this dark/pale descriptor applied to ales? (ex. belgian pale ale). Second note is I’m assuming 灼熱のサンダードライ is the beer brand name? It showed up in Part 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOST MY SHIT JUST NOW WHEN THIS LINE POPPED UP MAN, I Love Ryuu.
(2) 本番に弱い threw me on a loop thru self-help books + motivational advice bc it basically means you dont do well when it matters, or you don’t perform well (think people who do great in rehearsals but suck at the actual game, etc)
im p sure the lady actually means;^) hey you, you fine HUNK, you won’t need to rehearse for ~this~ *legs doing the YMCA*;^)
maybe not in those exact wordS
(3) uh went 4 the literal here because that’s pretty accurate imagery? any other 'heart’ figures of speeches wouldn’t have quite hit the mark… and weblio’s “heartquake” definition jUST ISNTf,fm, IM LAUHGING, IVE NEVER HEARD THAT WROD BEFORe

As usual, if you see any mistakes/mistranslations/etc, please message me!

Thank you for reading!!
