Вы не делать разворот, если это запрещено. Вы уступаете дорогу другим транспортным средствам на знаке «уступи дорогу» и, конечно, вы не едете, если видите знаки "не въезжать", или «неправильная дорога». И - К сожалению, это еще не все. Водитель автотранспортного средства не паркуется, там где вывешены знаки «парковка для инвалидов» и стоянка «запрещена». Э - Я не люблю автомобили, потому что вам всегда нужно их ремонтировать. Б - Недавно я ремонтировал трансмиссию, двигатель, систему подачи (впрыска) топлива, замок, сцепление и коробку передач. М - Было бы намного дешевле доставить твою машину на станцию по разборке машин. Г - В этом году я поменял ветровое стекло и дворники, сигналы поворота, фары, и правое зеркало заднего вида. К – О чём ты говоришь? Автомобиль простейшая вещь когда-либо созданная человеком. Единственное, что вы должны знать об автомобиле то, что правая педаль - это акселератор или педаль газа, левая - это педаль тормоза, круглая вещь перед водителем - это руль с сигналом на нём.   Г – А как насчёт ручки переключения скоростей, или рычага переключения передач? К – Он находится на руле, или между пассажирским и водительским сидениями. М - Не забудьте про домкрат, кабели аварийного запуска автомобиля («крокодилы»), ключ для колёс и запасное колесо в вашем багажнике. К - Почему я должен помнить про весь этот хлам? М - Потому, что автомобилю нужен бензин, или масло, или надо проходить проверку на избыток вредных веществ в выхлопных газах. Потому что шину нужно подкачивать, или у вас будет спускать колесо по крайней мере два раза в год. К - Не будет, если вы не будете разбрасывать гвозди рядом с подъездной дорогой к моему гаражу. М – А как насчёт аккумулятора, которому необходима зарядка или радиатора которому нужна охладительная жидкость? А - Парни, вы покупаете неправильные машины. Что мне нравится в автомобилях - это комфорт. Я покупаю машины, после того как посмотрю на их панели приборов. Неужели это не здорово, когда на панели все эти мигающие датчики давления масла, количества бензина, температуры, освещенные ручки отопления и кондиционера, радио и проигрывателя дисков, зажигалка? Т - Вы говорите, как поэт, но вы ничего не сказали о бардачке, который является гораздо более важным, чем все эти зажигания, подвески и системы подачи (впрыска) топлива. Б - Как люди покупают автомобили в Сакраменто?   Т - Если вы богаты, вы идете в любой автосалон и объясняете продавцу, какую машину вы хотите. Потом вам предлагают проехать на машине. Т - Вы читаете рекламные объявления, или едете к механикам кузовных работ, которые продают отремонтированные, или восстановленные машины намного дешевле, чем все остальные. КС - Я слышал, что самый дешевый способ - это приобрести автомобиль на аукционе и восстановить его потом в мастерской по ремонту кузова. Т – Самый дешевый, но самый рискованный. Если вы сделали неправильную оценку ремонта, вы столкнётесь с проблемами. КС – Сложно ли зарегистрировать машину в автоинспекции? А - Вовсе нет. Обычно продавец делает всю работу с документами и сопровождает вас туда. Вы получаете ваш номерной знак примерно через полчаса.   Х - Какие виды страхования существуют? КС - Наименее дорогим является односторонняя страховка. Но если вы арендуете автомобиль, вы должны иметь двухстороннюю страховку. Х - Если вы хотите застраховать автомобиль от вандализма и воровства, то - это дороже. Кстати, это наиболее типичное преступление здесь. Полиция не расследует кражу автомобилей и вандализм. Вот почему молодежь развлекатся подобным образом.   Э – Какие преступления типичны после кражи машин и вандализма? Х – Следующие по популярности преступления совершаемые преступниками это бандитизм, вождение в пьяном виде, продажа или распространение наркотиков. Э - А грабеж, нанесение телесных повреждений, кража со взломом, или убийство? Х - Это случается довольно редко. Я никогда не сталкивался с этим. Я никогда не был жертвой этих преступлений. И – Как бы то ни было, вам лучше следовать некоторым правилам общественной безопасности. V - Dear friends, you’ll get acquainted with the Sacramento transportation system which is much easier than the one in San Francisco. No subways with its tokens and fare cards, no trains with their train stations, platforms, conductors and tickets, no ferries with their piers. Just buses with their schedules and routes, bus stops and fares, taxis or cabs with taxi stands, meters, taxi licenses, and finally trams.  J - That is actually too late. A – What do you mean “too late”? J- I’ve bought a motor vehicle. B - What kind of motor vehicle have you purchased? J – A car. M - A subcompact, a compact, a midsize, or a full-size car?   J – I’ve purchased a midsize car. G – A convertible or a sports car?   J – A regular one. C – If I were you, I would purchase a pickup truck, or a station wagon, or an SUV, or a minivan.   E – As for me, I am not a driver. I am a passenger. I am annoyed by all those traffic signs, traffic lights, and traffic rules. S – They are easy. You have to obey speed limits, especially at pedestrians, railroad, and school crossings. H – You stop at the stop signs. You do not do a U-turn if it is prohibited. You give right of the way to the other vehicles at a yield sign, and, of course, you do not enter if you see “do not enter” or “wrong way” sign. I - Unfortunately, that’s not all. The motor vehicle operator does not park where handicapped parking and no parking signs are posted. E – I don’t like cars because you always need to repair them.  B – Recently I fixed a transmission, an engine, a fuel injection system, a lock, a clutch, and a gearshift. M - It would have been much cheaper to drive your car to a dismantle station. G – This year I have changed a windshield and windshield wipers, turn signals, headlights, and a right side view mirror. K – What are you talking about? A car is the simplest thing ever created by man. The only things you have to know about the car is that a right pedal is an accelerator or a gas pedal, and that the left one is a brake pedal, and a round thing in front of a driver is a steering wheel with the horn knob on it. G - What about a stick shift or a gearstick?   K – It is at a steering wheel, or between the passenger’s and the driver’s seats. M – Don’t forget about a jack, jumper cable, a lug wrench, and a spare tire in your trunk.   K - Why should I remember all this trash? M - Because the car needs gas, or oil or a smog check. Because the tire needs air, or you can have a flat tire at least two times a year.     K – It won’t if you don’t seed nails around my driveway. M - What about battery which needs recharging or radiator which needs coolant?   A – Guys, you buy wrong cars. What I like in cars is comfort. I buy cars after looking at their dashboards. Isn’t it nice when on a dashboard there are all these blinking oil, gas, and temperature gauges, lighted knobs of the heater and the air conditioner, a radio and a disk deck, and a cigarette lighter? T - You speak like a poet, but you said nothing about a glove compartment which is much more important than all these ignitions, suspensions, and fuel injection systems. B – How do people purchase cars in Sacramento? T - If you are rich, you go to any dealership and explain to the salesperson what kind of car you desire. Then you take a test drive. After that you discuss the price. If you need a loan, you fill out a loan application and wait. Then having been approved, you make your first payment including the insurance payment, grab your key, and take your car home. B – How do you buy a car if you are poor? T - You read advertisements or go to the body repair mechanics who sell repaired or salvaged cars much cheaper than anyone else.   C - I’ve heard that the least expensive way is to purchase a car through the action and then repair it at a body shop. T - The cheapest, but the riskiest. If you make the wrong repair appraisal, you will face problems. C - Is it difficult to register a car at DMV?   А – Not at all. Usually a seller makes all the paper work and accompanies you there. You get your license plate in about half an hour or so. H – What types of insurance are there? C – The least expensive is liability. But if you lease a car, you have to have dual sided insurance. H - If you want to insure the car for vandalism and for stealing, it is more expensive. By the way, this is the most typical crime here. The police never investigate car theft and car vandalism. That is why youngsters entertain themselves doing this crime. E – What are the crimes which come next after car stealing and vandalism? H – The next in popularity are such crimes as gang violence, drunk driving, and selling or distributing drugs.   E - What about mugging or assault, burglary or murder? H – It happens rarely. I have never experienced one. I have never been a victim of these crimes.   I - Anyhow, you’d better follow some rules of public safety. You should lock the doors, not open your door to strangers, protect your wallet, hold your purse close to your body, stay on well-lit streets, and, of course, report crimes to the police at 911.   E - Neighborhood watch is a good way to prevent crime as well. K – What to do if you are arrested? I – If you are arrested as a suspect, you can hire a lawyer (an attorney). You have to appear in court as a defendant and stand a trial. Defense attorney and a prosecutor will compete in front of the jury and the judge, who give the verdict and sentence the defendant. K – If you are a witness, what are your duties? I – An attorney will invite you for the court hearing and ask you questions. The attorney also presents the evidence during the court hearing. K - Who is usually present in the court room? E – Everybody if it is an open trial, but a bailiff and a court reporter have to be present. This is their job. K - What happens if they pronounce you guilty and sentence you? H - They allow you to smoke your last cigar, and knit you to the electric chair. E – He is kidding. They send you to prison or jail and release you in some years.   I - Why are you so curious? What have you done? K – I have eaten somebody’s ice cream taken out of the refrigerator by mistake.
