Глагол to be

Глагол to be в Present, Past, Future Indefinite имеет следующие формы.

Present Indefinite: am, is, are

I am a student. – Я студент.

She is a student. – Она студентка.

They are students. – Они студенты.

Past Indefinite: was, were

He was a student last year. – Он был студентом в прошлом году.

We were students last year. – Мы были студентами в прошлом году.

Future Indefinite: shall be, will be

I shall be a student next year. – Я буду студентом в следующем году.

В вопросительной форме глагол to be ставится перед подлежащим.

Is he a student? Yes, he is \ No, he is not.

Are they students? Yes, they are \ No, they are not.

Was he a student last year? Yes, he was\ No, he was not.

Were we students last year? Yes, we were \ No, we were not.

В отрицательной форме после глагола to be ставится отрицание not.

I am not a student. He was not a student last year.

He is not a student. We were not students last year.
