Actually

Оно имеет в русском языке эквиваленты: 1) фактически, на самом деле, в действительности, по-настоящему: do you actually mean it? / вы это всерьез говорите?; you are actually the only friend I have — no правде говоря, ты мой единственный друг; 2) как ни странно, как ни удивительно; даже: he actually expected me to do this work for him!

Не went up to the table and with his finger on the map rapidly began to demonstrate that... if the enemy were actually to outflank it, then the enemy would inevitably be annihilated. (Dunn.)
