1. Define and comment on the stylistic value of the following words:

abandon, encounter, ignoramus, memento, operandi, thesis, connoisseur, homogeneity, discoloration, underoxydization, aforesaid, reinforcement, destabilize, to hang about, to drew back, a get-out, a go-between, last minuter, a do-it-yourselfer, not all there, keep mum, to baby-sit, a teach-in, sis (sister), sec (second), get in touch, have a go.

2. Compare and comment on the difference:

The difference between Romance and Germanic synonyms is in most cases one of emotive associations.Which words are connected with the abstract, loftier, more sublime and benceless familiar and friendly moods and which words are nearly always more bomely, more affectionate and familiar?: liberty; freedom; cordial; hearty; fraternal; brotherly; maternal; motherly; kingly; royal; fortune; amity; friendship; foe; enemy; lonely; solitary.
